The famous TV journalist and writer was born in 1955 in Moscow, into a family distantly related to the family of Joseph Stalin. All his ancestors - grandmother, grandfather, parents, in one way or another, were related to politics and history, and the boy's fate was a foregone conclusion. Already from his school years he was prepared for social activities in this area, and they tried to give an appropriate education - a school with in-depth study of the English language, the Faculty of History of Moscow State University.
After graduating from university, Nikolai refused membership in the CPSU, where he had to join at the insistence of the rector. Since 1991, Svanidze became a TV journalist, for several months he worked as a voice-over commentator for news broadcasts. Since this period, his career has developed rapidly, and after 7 years in his professional piggy bank were:
- several copyright analytical programs,
- membership in the Union of Journalists,
- the post of the chairman of the TV channel (VGTRK),
- membership in the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.

Personal life of TV journalist Nikolai Svanidze
Nikolai Karlovich met his future wife Marina Zhukova back in 1983, when he worked as an ordinary lifeguard on the Moscow River. For him, marriage was the only one, and Marina was previously married. They do not have common children, but Nikolai nevertheless became a father - for Marina's son Andrei from her first marriage.
The couple has everything in common, even work. Soon after formalizing her marriage with Svanidze, Marina dropped out of the Moscow Art Theater School and devoted herself entirely to a career in television. She began to work with Nikolai, took up production and directing work, is a co-author of her husband in most of his historical and political projects, and directs the "Mirror" program.
It is rare in which families that joint work binds husband and wife even more firmly. For the Svanidze couple, the union was a success in all its directions - both as a personal, family, and as a professional. They are real like-minded people, thinking absolutely the same, supporting each other in everything.
