Ivan Matveevich Vinogradov is a famous scientist whose contribution to the development of Soviet mathematics is rightfully appreciated by many titles and awards. He created his own mathematical method for solving problems.
Biography
The life of the renowned scientist began in the late 90s of the 19th century in a small village near the city of Pskov. The main activity that Ivan's relatives were engaged in was worship. His father had a very great influence on the future specialist in mathematical sciences, he graduated from an Orthodox school and tried in every possible way to pass on his knowledge to his son.
The propensity to study sciences, the desire to acquire new knowledge was passed on to the boy from his mother, who managed to graduate from the school in the city of Pskov with almost excellent marks. Her specialty was teaching, later she worked as a teacher in a church school. Vinogradov Jr. had an older sister, her name was Nadezhda, she became the head of a department at one of the Moscow universities.
From an early age, Ivan was distinguished by his dissimilarity from his peers, literally upon reaching the age of three, he managed to add numbers, somehow read books. His desire to study the exact sciences became evident as soon as the boy was sent to school.
Having brilliantly graduated from school, the young man moved to a mathematical college in Velikiye Luki. Already at the age of 22, the young guy decided to continue his education and entered a higher educational institution in the city of St. Petersburg. Upon graduation, he was asked to stay in order to obtain an academic degree. Vinogradov did not refuse, and soon he earned the title of Doctor of Science.
Mathematical career
Then Ivan Matveyevich worked as a teacher in several cities. Only in 1929, thanks to his academic degree, he managed to get the membership of the academy. And after 3 years he became director of the Research Institute for Physics and Mathematics. A few years later, this educational institution was divided into two areas: mathematics and physics. Ivan Matveyevich became responsible for the first. He worked in this position for about 45 years, until the end of his life.
Advances in Science
The main achievement of the academician is the successful development of one of the most powerful and general methods of analytical number theory. Before the creation of this method, mathematicians faced many problems that were practically impossible to solve without the Vinogradov formula.
Personal life
According to Ivan Matveyevich himself, he never had time to have a wife. He believed that his task was to help people with mathematical problems. He also noticed that many women needed from him only his connections and high position in society. He lived most of his life with his older sister. The famous scientist died in 1983, he was 91 years old.
