The patron saint is an invisible spiritual guide, helper and leader of every Christian. According to religious dogmas, it is given to every person at baptism. A person bears the name of this patron, tries to imitate his feat with his life.
Instructions
Step 1
Your patron saint's name is your baptismal name. For most people, this is a passport name, except for cases when the name does not correspond to the canons (there are no Orthodox saints Rosa, Alice, etc.). If you were baptized as a baby, ask your recipient (godparent) your Christian name. If you are baptized in adulthood, you know that name.
Step 2
Find an Orthodox calendar. On the day of your baptism or within 40 years of your birth, the memory of the saint who bears your name should be celebrated. Such a saint is sure to be found, more often there are even several. Choose the day that is closer to the date of your baptism or birth.
Step 3
In the Orthodox month, for example, in Dmitry Rostov's twelve-volume "Lives of the Saints" (the link is indicated under the article), find the month and date of the saint's memory. Read his life. When choosing a date, pay attention to the correspondence between the old and the new style (the discrepancy is 13 days, the new style is slightly ahead). Otherwise, you may find the wrong saint, or not at all.
