Step 1
If you want to light candles in the temple, try to come in advance, before the start of the service. It is not recommended to put a candle during the service, because you distract not only the clergy, but also the rest of the faithful. Try not to bore them with requests to put a candle for you, all the more you should not squeeze through other people in order to get to the icon yourself. It is better to wait until the end of the service in the church and only after that light a candle.
Step 2
If there are no obstacles to lighting a candle, go to the shrine, cross yourself twice with prayer and bow. After that, light a candle from the flame of another candle. To fix your candle in an empty spot in the candlestick, lightly burn the bottom of it over another burning candle. Do not remove or extinguish those candles that were lit before you. If there is no free space in the candlestick, leave your candle unlit next to it. In each church, the state of the lamps and candlesticks is monitored, which means that your candle will take up free space after some time. After you have put the candle, cross yourself again (third) and make a bow. If the shrine has free space and you do not bother anyone, venerate.

Candles for health can be placed on any shrine. The main thing is to think about what exactly you wish this person: recovery, happy journey, happiness of motherhood, success in education, etc. For example, if the person for whom you are praying is preparing to enter a university or does not know what profession to choose, it would be more appropriate to light a candle to Sergius of Radonezh; if a person is sick - to the healer Panteleimon. Remember that a lighted candle is a symbol of love for God and at the same time for the one to whom it is placed. Do not light candles thoughtlessly, because "it is so customary", because a candle without love and favor has no meaning.
