Galina Kareva is a Soviet opera singer, mezzo-soprano. People's and Honored Artist of the RSFSR is a famous performer of romances, who managed to bring the forgotten genre to the big stage.
Thanks to Galina Alekseevna Kareva, the Russian romance has taken an honorable place in the repertoire of many Russian performers. The audience has always loved the singer. Her sensual voice, dramatic talent with incredible charm caused the listener's sympathy.
Towards a calling
All tickets for Kareva's concerts were sold out instantly. People came from all over the country to listen to it. The performer was distinguished by a very independent and direct character. But her records have always sold out in gigantic editions, and on the stage the singer reigned undividedly.
This was proof of popularity. The sale of tickets for her concerts in the capital was carried out under the supervision of a special detachment of mounted police because of the incredible excitement.
The famous performer was born on the first day of 1929 in the village of Nikolo-Pestrovka. Mom, Maria Vasilievna, danced wonderfully and sang beautifully. Father, Alexei Ivanovich, read monologues, played various instruments and also sang.
In his biography there is a work as an artist of a traveling theater. The actors in it had to be versatile gifted. This is exactly what the father of the future singer was. However, a creative career did not interest him: he became an agronomist. Creative talent passed from the daughter's parents.
The family had two more daughters, Olga and Lydia. Since childhood, Galya dreamed of becoming famous. Together with her girlfriends, the girl staged performances, played scenes from her favorite films, thought over the images and wrote texts herself, and conducted rehearsals. The spectators were local guys with homemade tickets. The local newspaper even wrote about the unusually talented girl.
In the thirties, my father was transferred to a new place. The whole family moved to Moscow. After the outbreak of the war, there was an evacuation to the Penza region. Tam Kareva realized that the theater was her vocation. She participated in professional concerts and was quickly recognized as her own. Galina dreamed of getting to the front.
Singing career
Together with her father, she ended up in Izmail in 1944. There, the girl began working as a nurse in a military hospital. She turned out to be a great nurse. Doctors even recommended that the girl go to a medical university. However, Galina has already decided everything. She arranged real mini-concerts, wanting to help the soldiers forget about the wounds.
In the early fifties, Galina decided to get an education at the capital's Aviation Institute. There, the student began performing in amateur performances in the propaganda team. The girl, who dreamed of singing, decided to study vocals with professional teachers. Admission to the drama school of the capital did not work out, and Kareva became a student in the academic singing class at the Ippolitov-Ivanov School. The future singer graduated with honors. Immediately, the bright graduate was admitted to the Bolshoi Theater.
During her studies, Galina sang jazz in the orchestra under the direction of Osnovikov. The acquired skills greatly helped the artist in her work. Thanks to her lyrical voice and spectacular appearance, the girl became a popular performer of the Moscow Philharmonic. The production of War and Peace was postponed indefinitely, where Kareva was offered to perform the part of Helene. Then the performance was completely canceled.
Tired of waiting, the singer herself decided to act. She decided to move to Kuibyshev. At the local theater, the performer sang throughout the year, causing the admiration of the audience. The most famous parties were waiting for Kareva in Leningrad. Galina was invited to the city in 1961. She began performing at the Mariinsky Theater. On stage, the singer performed more than two dozen parts for mezzo-soprano.
Concert activities
For eighteen years, the singer performed at the Kirov Theater. The actress played the role of Carmen especially brilliantly. The singer took off on the musical Olympus. She easily coped with a game of any complexity. All the images she created were unique and convincing. Many famous artists considered it an honor to work on the same stage with Galina.
Her performances at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in 1965 caused considerable resonance. Then there were concerts at the Rossiya State Central Concert Hall. The only opera performer, the artist became a native to the general public.
Since 1978, Kareva began concert activities, having traveled all over the country. In her performance, the romances sounded especially soulful. The singer collected giant stadiums.
Since 1980, Kareva has been an artist of Rosconcert, returned to the capital. Thanks to the wide range of her voice, the artist sang songs from passionate gypsy to languid lyrical sounds. Kareva's repertoire includes more than two hundred works. There are also romances by Fomin, Gurilev, Glinka and Tchaikovsky. The singer also performed her own works.
In addition to romances, the singer sang songs by Spanish and Italian composers, organ programs based on works by Bach and Handel, and hosted Rossini and Mozart music evenings. Galina Alekseevna has been teaching since 1985.
In 1965, her recitals at the Concert Hall. Tchaikovsky caused a great resonance. Concerts followed at the Rossiya State Central Concert Hall. In 1980 she became a soloist of Rosconcert and moved to Moscow.
The singer died in February 1990. In memory of her, the All-Russian festivals of Russian romance performers named after Galina Kareva are held in the Penza region. Her life and work are a clear proof that neither everyday difficulties, nor time, nor twists of fate are able to divert genuine talent from its main path.
