The resort city of Sochi, stretching on the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory, takes its rightful place among the best natural health resorts in the world. The monument of landscape gardening, founded 120 years ago at the end of the 19th century by the Russian journalist Khudyakov, continues to amaze and delight guests of the resort and local residents. The very name of the park comes from the Greek "dendron" - a tree. Initially, the gardener Franz Lampau was engaged in the laying of the Arboretum, combining elements of an English landscape park and an Italian terraced garden. Today, it harmoniously combines Chinese, Himalayan, Australian, Mexican and Japanese vegetation zones. The arboretum is famous for its collection of trees: it contains more than 60 species of oak trees, 80 pine trees and 20 cypresses. Exotic tree species are represented in an unusually wide range. Lebanese cedar, Japanese euonymus, Australian eucalyptus, California elephant palm, Mexican agave, Algerian cork oak and Brazilian aucaria grow comfortably and feel at home here. The rose garden occupies a special place among the attractions of the park. Hundreds of species of flowering specimens from early spring to late autumn delight lovers of beauty, bewitching with their splendor and aromas. Graceful peacocks can be found in the alleys of the park, restless squirrels gallop through the trees, and important ostriches walk in special enclosures. The surface of the ponds is decorated with blooming water lilies, water lilies, lotuses and papyri, and you can admire white and black swans for hours. The marine aquarium is home to about 30 species of fish, including the famous Black Sea shark. From the very beginning, the park was decorated with sculptures, decorative benches, gazebos and fountains. The Moorish pavilion still surprises with its columns and minaret, the "Fairy Tale" fountain mentally returns to the tales of A. S. Pushkin, and the sculptural compositions "Morning" and "Dancer" are striking in their incredible beauty. The arboretum is territorially divided into two parts: the upper one, located on a steep slope, and the lower one - flat, which are connected by a tunnel and a cable car. An excursion to the Arboretum will be an excellent alternative to going to the beach and swimming in the sea. To touch a natural miracle, make a trip around the world without leaving the park, get acquainted with the species of the world's flora and fauna, have a wonderful rest and get a charge of positive emotions - all this is possible in the Sochi Arboretum Park.
