She was a beautiful girl with fair hair and green eyes, talented and successful. However, she could not realize her modeling career as she dreamed of. But the tragedy did not end there: six months after her death, her younger sister Eliana, who was also a model, died. After the death of Luisel, she said that in Uruguay there are very serious requirements for models and many of them are constantly starving.

Biography

Luisel Ramos was born in Montevideo in 1984, the son of a popular football player Luis Ramos. From childhood, she knew that she would become a model, and she and her younger sister Eliana often dressed up and imagined that they were walking on the catwalk.

And so it happened - both sisters became models and very quickly became successful and famous in their homeland. They did not have big foreign tours, but the prospects were pretty good even internationally. In 2006, the name Luisel was on the lips of many.

However, she was not destined to become famous outside Uruguay.

Luisel Ramos' last show was in Montevideo on August 2, 2006. The show was attended by venerable fashion designers, socialites, locals and tourists from other countries, even from Europe. The show was organized at the five-star Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel - it was the opening of the haute couture week.

That evening, Luiselle paraded the catwalk for the last time, and when she returned to the dressing room, she fell dead. An ambulance arrived, but the doctors could no longer help. The young girl's official cause of death is a heart attack.

This case was investigated by law enforcement agencies, and the father of the model said that for several days Luisel did not eat anything. The investigation established that the cause of death was anorexia. Therefore, we can say that she died of hunger.

Sacrifices for the podium

Luiselle's parents said that their daughter often ate very poorly: on her plate there was only lettuce, and in a glass - diet Cola. Eliana confirmed these words, and said that many models in Uruguay live as her sister lived. And these incredible tests await everyone who goes into the modeling business.

Using the example of Luisel Ramos, you can show how you can bring yourself to exhaustion for the sake of a career. With a height of 175 centimeters, she weighed 44 kilograms, while the normal weight for medical reasons should be from 65 kilograms.

Doctors also calculate an indicator such as body index. For Luisel, it was 14, 5 units, while this figure is less than 16 units already speaks of pathology. Therefore, it was Luiselle's lifestyle, and in particular her nutrition, that provoked a heart attack. Moreover, for several years, the doctors who observed the model, diagnosed her with anorexia, that is, a large weight loss.

Usually, girls do not realize this problem and consider themselves not thin enough even with such indicators as Luisel's. So this is mainly a psychological problem. And also people with anorexia are very afraid of getting fat. Of course, not only models suffer from this ailment, but in their environment this phenomenon is most pronounced due to the fact that we are talking about a career.

As a result of anorexia, a person develops hormonal and metabolic pathologies, and this is already serious and requires medical intervention.

Reaction to death of models

Sadly, Luisel and Eliana Ramos weren't the only ones to fall victim to anorexia. Shortly after their departure, the Brazilian model Anna Carolina Reston also died of this ailment. She followed the tomato-apple diet and did not eat anything else. She was admitted to the clinic, but they could not help her. Anna was only twenty years old.

In the aftermath of these tragic events, Uruguay began to educate women, urging them to abandon unsubstantiated diets. The campaign included doctors who reported that anorexia may well become one of the dangerous phenomena of the 21st century.

These ideas were picked up by other countries, and in Spain they began to take concrete steps: in the next fashion week, models with a body index less than 18 were not allowed on the catwalk.

Then Italy joined this process: in this country they decided not to allow models of "zero" size to work. This is a size that corresponds to indicators 80-58-86.

In England, no specific measures were taken, there were no strict prohibitions. However, fashion houses were encouraged to work only with healthy models. By the way, in the same England there is a health parameter for eight-year-old girls. So, a healthy girl's waist should be 56 centimeters.

Conclusion

After the tragic death of the sisters in Latin America, such cases have occurred more than once. And it becomes clear that the life of models is not so cloudless and beautiful as it seems from the outside. For the sake of a career, they can lose their personal life, not receive any education and not even become famous. What is it all for?

Against this background, the behavior of the founder of a large agency Pancho Dottu, in which the Ramos sisters worked, looked especially cynical. She said that both girls ate well and that they were in good health, they did not have anorexia. And that in their family there is some kind of genetic disease that caused their death.

Let these words remain on her conscience, and the fate of the Ramos sisters will be a warning to those who still care about their imaginary harmony, contrary to common sense.
