Biography

Roza Ivanovna Makagonova was born in 1927 in Samara into a simple family.

Since childhood, she loved poetry. At school evenings, Rosa recited poetry with inspiration. She performed with pleasure in the club when she was invited. A young schoolgirl went on stage in a beautiful dress when there was no heating in the hall. She tried to look spectacular, like a real actress, although she was shivering from the cold. Even then, Rosa dreamed that she would become an artist.

When the Great Patriotic War began, Rose was fourteen years old. After studying at school, she went to the hospital, helped take care of the wounded.

After graduating from school, the girl went to Moscow to enroll in VGIK. Rose successfully passed the exams. She was admitted to the course of Sergei Yutkevich and Mikhail Romm.

After the third year, Rosa Makagonova married Vladimir Basov, who studied at the directing department of the same institute.

In 1951, Rosa Makagonova graduated from VGIK and became an actress in the theater-studio of a film actor.

She starred in all of her husband's films.

In 1957, Rosa divorced her husband and began working with other directors.

Her career was successful until 1962, but an insidious illness prevented her creative plans. The actress was sick with tuberculosis. For ten years she had to leave her beloved job and engage in treatment.

In 1976 she received the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

The final work of the actress in the movie - the role of the grandmother in the movie "Your fingers smell of incense" in 1983.

In the last years of her life, Rosa wrote poetry and memoirs about the actors with whom she brought her life. She wrote an article about Leonid Bykov for the centenary of cinema. In memory of Nikolai Kryuchkov, Makagonova published an article in the Niva Rossii magazine.

Very soon, in 1995, the actress died. She died at the age of 67.

Rose got her first movie role when she was 20 years old. At that time she was still studying at the Institute of Cinematography. It was the film "Country Teacher", in which she played the role of a schoolgirl. Then she was offered roles in the films "Far from Moscow", and "Alyosha Ptitsyn develops character."

In 1954, the movie “School of Courage” by Vladimir Basov and Mstislav Korchagin was released. This picture was shot based on the story of Arkady Gaidar "School". At the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, the film won the award for the best educational film, and popularity came to Rosa Makagonova.

Since 1956, the actress has starred a lot. Having finished her work in the film novel "The Ordinary Man", without rest she began filming in another film. With her participation, the paintings "A Soldier's Heart" and "Flags on the Towers" were released. During 1959, she starred in three films.

In 1962, work on the film Sixteenth Spring was completed. But again, the disease did not allow her to do what she loved.

Personal life

Rosa's husband Vladimir Basov was four years older than her. They met at VGIK, where they studied together. The young actress enjoyed the attention of men. Vladimir Basov was not attractive outwardly, Rosa was embarrassed. Basov long sought the reciprocity of the young beauty. After persistent courtship, the girl agreed to marry him.

The student wedding was modest. Due to lack of money, they could not afford more.

Basov turned out to be a jealous husband. Rose was very worried when her husband arranged scenes of jealousy, because she did not give a reason for them. On the set they were together, but there was no prosperity in family life. Rosa, because of her illness, was afraid to have children. Her husband's alcohol addiction, lack of mutual understanding between them led to discord in the family. Vladimir Basov started an affair with actress Natalia Fateeva. In 1957, their marriage to Rosa Makagonova broke up.

The second time Rose married a person from a non-acting environment. The marriage with him also did not work out, although it lasted seven years.
