Several major film festivals are held annually in Russia, among which one can note the "Mirror" - it is dedicated to Andrei Tarkovsky and belongs to the international category. In 2012, it was visited by many movie stars.
In 2012, the festival was held for the sixth time. Traditionally, the event takes place in late spring and early summer in Ivanovo, which is unusual for Russia, where the main cultural events, especially international ones, are concentrated in Moscow and St. Petersburg. This is due to the fact that the great director Andrei Tarkovsky, in whose honor the festival is held, was born in the Ivanovo region.
Many famous actors and directors were included in the organizing committee and the jury of the festival. In particular, the jury included director Andrei Zvyagintsev, whose works won prizes at the Venice and Cannes Film Festivals for both directing and acting.
The actors in the jury were represented by Dinara Drukarova and Vladas Bagdonas, currently working mainly with European filmmakers. Representatives of the foreign film industry also had the right to choose the best films. This is Roger Christian, an Oscar winner for his work as a production designer, and the Austrian actor Johannes Zeiler, best known for his theatrical roles.
For the second year in a row, the festival was attended by director Pavel Lungin, widely known in Russia and abroad, a laureate of many international competitions and festivals.
Many stars were on the guest list. Film director Alexander Sokurov not only attended the festival, but was also awarded a prize for achievements in cinema. Dmitry Dyuzhev and Sergey Loznitsa were also invited to the event, as their paintings were nominated for the main prizes of the festival.
However, some celebrities planning to attend the event have canceled their visit. For example, Carole Bouquet was unable, as previously assumed, to head the jury of the film festival.
