Already at the end of May, the organizers announced the list of films that were included in the program of the International Moscow Film Festival. The main nomination includes 16 films, filmed by directors of different nationalities.

At the International Moscow Film Festival there are films that apply for statuettes, as well as film products that are shown within the framework of the competition, in the Perspectives program. According to the organizers, the main contenders for the Golden George award are three Russian films. These are "Rita's Last Tale" (directed by Renata Litvinova), "Gulf Stream under the Iceberg" (directed by Yevgeny Pashkevich) and "Horde" (directed by Yevgeny Proshkin). Also among the favorites are the film by Mexican director Kenya Marquez "Expiration date", British director Tindji Krishnan "Dregs", Italian director Stefano Sollima "All the cops are bastards." The international procession continues with the films The Apostle (directed by Fernando Cortiso, Spain), The Vegetarian Cannibal (directed by Branko Schmidt, Croatia), Growing up with the Wind (directed by Rahbara Ganbari, Iran) and The Cherry on the Pomegranate Tree "(Directed by Chen Li, China).

The competition program also includes films directed by Waldemar Krzystek from Poland "80 Million", Pieter Simm from Estonia "Lonely Island", Ahu Louhimies from Finland "Naked Bay", Ferzan Ozpetek from Italy "Presence of Splendor". The director of the classic genre in cinema, Hungarian Istvan Szabo, will present the film "The Door" at the MIFF 2012. Thus, the main competition program of the Moscow International Film Festival 2012 includes 16 films.

Films of debutant directors were also included in the competition program of the Moscow International Film Festival 2012. They represent works in the Perspectives program.
