Biography
Was born in 1950 in Scotland. Real name - Anthony Robert McMillan. Mother worked as a school teacher and pianist. My father worked as a general practitioner and forensic expert in the police.
Studied at Glenalmond College. He later described his years at school as the most miserable time. During his studies, he played rugby, participated in social debates, and was engaged in drawing. Later he transferred to the Glasgow School of Art, where, as Coltrane joked, "learned to speak like Prince Charles."
Career
At the age of 20, he took the stage name Coltrane after the famous saxophonist John Coltrane. He began his acting career with participation in theatrical productions, the young actor was most successful in comedic roles.
In 1981 he first appeared in the television project "A Kick Up the Eighties". The actor's comedic talent was noticed by the public and producers, paving the way for British television.
