A huge number of people are engaged in the search for people who disappeared in the Great Patriotic War. These are the creators of Internet portals, children's and youth clubs, employees of specialized television and radio programs. There are fewer and fewer nameless graves, more and more relatives of Soviet soldiers learn about their fate.
Step 2
The most affordable way to get information about your loved ones who have not returned from the battlefields is to refer to the relevant sites. Portals https://veterany.org, obd-memorial.ru, soldat.ru and others, contain data and documents about those who disappeared and died in the Great Patriotic War and subsequent conflicts
Step 3
Registration is not required to find a missing person using these portals. It is enough just to enter the last name, first name, patronymic and date of birth. If you know the rank and years of service, mark it in the search bar. The more identifying information you enter, the more likely a positive result is. Information for these sites is obtained by volunteers engaged in excavations at the battlefields. The database is constantly updated, so check the missing lists once or twice a month.
Step 4
If you can't find the missing person on your own, contact the “Wait for Me” program. This is a unique international project. The program employees carry out searches not only throughout the territory of the former Soviet Union, but also in other countries of the world. To start the search for your relative, fill out the form on the website www.poisk.vid.ru. In it, specify the signs of the missing person in as much detail as possible. If there is a photo, add it to the description. The search will begin immediately. About sixty people are searched for by the program "Wait for Me" every week. Thirty percent of those found are soldiers and officers who did not return from the battlefields.
