Childhood

In the circle of close and distant relatives of the Hopkins family, there have never been people engaged in art or literature. Nothing foreshadowed such a development of events this time, when the boy Tony was born. The future actor was born on December 31, 1937 into a baker's family. The father was distinguished by a quick-tempered disposition and raised his son in strict rules. The situation was complicated by the fact that the child was dyslexic. This kind of disorder interferes with the development of reading and writing skills. At the same time, learning ability is not affected in any way.

For Anthony in childhood, the most difficult thing was to find contact with peers. At school, he literally served the allotted time. But at home, in a free atmosphere, he was engaged in drawing and music. Outside the walls of the school, Hopkins attended classes in a drama studio. And he was considered here one of the best and most capable students. In 1955, the young man passed the entrance test and received the status of a student at the Royal Wales College of Music and Drama. After graduating from this educational institution, the certified actor was drafted into the ranks of the armed forces.
