Richard Kruspe is one of the founders, guitarist, vocalist and backing vocalist of the cult German hard rock and gothic industrial band Rammstein. In addition, he acts as a frontman in the Emigrate band he founded.
Biography
Richard Kruspe was born in eastern Germany, in the town of Wittenberg. At birth he was named Zven, but as a teenager he made the decision to change his name to Richard, believing that "everyone should be able to change their name." He has two older sisters and two older brothers.
His parents divorced when he was ten years old, and soon his mother remarried. Richard's relationship with his stepfather did not work out. Because of this, he often ran away from home as a teenager and even slept on park benches. In order to get rid of his anger, Richard went to the wrestling section.
Acquaintance with his main instrument happened when Richard and his friends went to Czechoslovakia. There he bought a locally made JolanaIris electric guitar. At that time he was sixteen years old. He originally planned to sell the guitar because they were very expensive and in short supply in Germany.
However, when the students returned home and decided to throw a party in honor of the birthday of one of their friends, and Richard went there with his new guitar, a stranger asked to play, but he was embarrassed to say that he did not know how to do it. The girl continued to insist. Richard began to try to extract sounds from the guitar. "The harder I played," Richard said, "the more she liked it." This episode prompted the future famous musician to think that girls like guys who play the guitar. Therefore, Richard began to spend several hours every day on boring and exhausting exercises.
Creation
In 1989, Richard formed a group called Das Auge Gottes, where rock was mixed with the trendy "Berlin" techno sound. At the same time, he began to closely interact with vocalist Thiel Lindemann, bass guitarist Oliver Riedel and drummer Christoph Schneider. They decide to start a band and take the name Rammstein.
In 1995, the band with freshly composed songs Dasalte Leid and Seemann won the competition for young performers in Berlin, thereby obtaining the right to record in the studio. Deciding to expand the line-up, they take on a second guitarist Paul Landers and keyboardist Christian Lorenz. With this line-up, the guys recorded the album Herzeleid, which was produced by Jacob Helner. Well, then they were waiting for a deafening career, known to all rock lovers.
