At one time, the famous Russian poet noted that poetry is not so difficult. Yes, indeed, to creak with a pen or bang on a keyboard is not for you to roll sacks of cereals. However, we must also agree that the poetic gift and talent of a writer is given to few. Igor Volgin is one of those who are called a professional literary critic.
A distant start
When the war broke out, the Volgin family was evacuated to the city of Molotov. Today, few people know that this was the name of the city of Perm in those years. The child was born in 1942. His father, a journalist by profession, worked in the editorial office of a local newspaper, and his mother worked here as a proofreader. From an early age, the boy was in an environment where they talk about writers, works, Russian, history and spelling rules. We can say that Igor absorbed his love for literary work with his mother's milk.
When the war was over, after the Victory, the Volgins returned to their native Moscow. Igor, on the other hand, at school, began to rhyme words and form his feelings into poetic forms. In 1959 he received a certificate of maturity and entered the Faculty of History at Moscow University. As a student, he wrote poetry and tried to publish it. It should be noted that in those years graphomaniacs with their verses walked in droves around the editorial offices of newspapers and magazines. The famous poet of the older generation Pavel Antakolsky drew attention to the work of the young man. And he recommended several works for publication in the Literaturnaya Gazeta. This was a serious claim to success.
Having received a fundamental education, Volgin plunges headlong into scientific work and creativity. Studying primary sources does not prevent him from writing poetry. As a historian, he takes an interest in the origins of Russian literature, journalism and writers of the 19th century. Among the latter, the young scientist was deeply impressed by the works of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky. And, of course, the very personality of the writer.
Informal approach
Young people of the modern formation do not always understand what is the peculiarity of the works of the historian Volgin. To do this, you need to imagine the state of society at that time. Atheism was cultivated in the Soviet Union. And then the young literary critic begins to speak openly about the religious component in the work of the cult Russian writer. In films based on the works of Dostoevsky, the materialistic vector runs like a red thread. However, Igor Volgin convincingly and consistently defends his views, proving that Dostoevsky is a religious writer.
Igor Volgin devotes a lot of effort to teaching. Reads a course of lectures at Moscow State University and the Literary Institute. In parallel with his scientific work, Volgin leads the literary studio of Moscow State University. Deals with young poets. The career of a TV presenter is also consistently developing. Thanks to the persistence and broad erudition of Igor Leonidovich, a place was found in the broadcasting network for the films "Nikolai Zabolotsky" and "History of Russian Journalism". The audience watched with interest 12 episodes of the television series "Dostoevsky's Life and Death".
Not much is known about how the popular historian Volgin lives outside of his professional occupations. He makes no secret of his personal life. But he does not stick it out for everyone to see. The writer is married today. The age difference between husband and wife is too big, but not enough to "make" surprised eyes. Igor Leonidovich is energetic and full of creative plans.
