Starting conditions

Game sports, including football, have replaced knightly tournaments. Representatives of any class could “drive” the ball across the field. Daddy's capital and letters of recommendation from influential officials are powerless on the lawn of the football field. Valery Leonidovich Reingold was born on February 18, 1942 in an international family. Parents at that time lived in Moscow. His father, German by nationality, worked at one of the defense enterprises. Mother, Russian, taught her native language and literature at the pedagogical college.

Valery grew up an active and inquisitive child. On the outskirts of Moscow in those years, the boys' main entertainment was football. Often the ball for the game was sewn with their own hands from scrap materials. Reingold knew well how his comrades live, with whom he shared the joy of victories and the bitterness of defeats in fights on the football field. At school, he studied well, but did not show much zeal. In high school, I always played for the school team in football tournaments.

Professional footballer

In the mid-1950s, two sports clubs, Dynamo and Spartak, competed sharply in the Soviet Union. At first, Valery Reingold came to study at the Dynamo children's sports school. Experienced coaches quickly noticed the boy's abilities and began to prepare him for a sports career. At one of the Moscow championship tournaments, a promising junior was noticed by the coach of the famous "Spartak" and invited him to the youth team. Of course, Valera agreed, although Dynamo vigorously protested against poaching their pupils.

Since 1959, Reingold has played for the red and white team for eight seasons. He played as a striker and midfielder. During the period spent at the club, he played 176 matches and hit the opponents' goal 32 times. During these years "Spartak" twice won the cup of the country, took the first, second and third places in the championship of the Soviet Union. Grateful spectators (unbridled fans in those days had not yet appeared) gave Valery the nicknames "Rex", "Electric Train", "Headless Horseman".

Essays on private life

Practice shows that love of football and experience of the game do not guarantee success. In 1968 Valery had to move to the city of Voronezh and play for the local Trud team. Five years later he was invited to the main team of Yaroslavl "Shinnik". Having played here for two seasons, Reingold ended his sports career.

In subsequent years, he had to work as a taxi driver, a builder, and director of the stadium. Valery Leonidovich's personal life was successful. He married as a young man. Over the past period, the husband and wife raised two daughters. We helped them raise four grandchildren. Reingold is often invited as an expert on television and radio.
