Armenian artist and singer Ashot Ghazaryan is also known as an excellent humorist. He played in the drama theater in Yerevan, and was also not only the soloist of the "Nairi" ensemble, but also headed it as its artistic director.
In 2006, Ashot Surenovich established the “Speech, Laughter, Humor” school. At the same time, the performer also became an Honorary Citizen of Yerevan.
Searching for a vocation
The biography of the future artist began in 1949. The boy was born in Yerevan on May 15 in the family of a school director and a teacher. In addition to Ashot, the parents raised two more sons and a daughter. The brothers became physicists, their sister is engaged in serious science.
And the future celebrity was not inspired by such a future. From an early age, the child showed remarkable artistic abilities. Everyone in the family was engaged in creativity. My father played great on kamancha. Mother sang in the choir of the Mother See of Echmiadzin. However, the parents decided to give their children a serious and thorough education.
At school, the student led all creative evenings, was the ringleader in KVN. Everyone around him predicted a brilliant artistic career. Immediately after school, for a year, the young man played on the stage of the capital's Drama Theater. The son did not dare to upset his parents with the choice of the Yerevan Art and Theater Institute in 1968. Even when he became his student, he told at home that he had entered an agricultural university. The deception was quickly revealed, but still the parents recognized the choice of their son. Ashot lived up to their hopes, completing his education with honors in 1973.
The graduate was admitted to the troupe of the Sundukyan Armenian State Academic Theater. He was a member of it until 1974. And in 1976 Kazaryan became a soloist of the "Merry Hour" pop group and an entertainer of the "Urartu" ensemble. Later he joined the group as a soloist, and a year later he became known both as the stage director of the Armconcert, and as the artistic director of the Only Laughter group and the Nairi ensemble, and as one of its leading performers.
Success
The young artist quickly won the recognition of the audience. He was distinguished by amazing benevolence, sincerity and complete dedication. The audience did not disperse even when the lights and heating were turned off. Often the concerts were held by candlelight and an inoperative microphone. The artist was very warmly received not only by the capital of Armenia, but also by the province of the republic. Despite the difficult times of the nineties, rural clubs were always overcrowded, where meetings with Kazaryan were held.
Sometimes it was necessary, contrary to the established schedule of concerts, to come to neighboring villages to fulfill the requests of their residents for a performance. His revue "Golden Autumn" was especially popular with the audience. At the same time, the actor is sure that he should not bother with his presence on the screen for 24 hours. The audience should rest from the idol: this is useful for both parties. That is why Ghazaryan does not accept invitations to participate from well-known modern TV programs.
The film debut took place in 1969. Ashot Surenovich played in the film "The Shore of Youth", a story about Garegin and his friends, who were the first to start oil fields in the country. Then there was work in the film "Blue Lion" and the scoring of "Brave Nazar".
In the film "Sister from Los Angeles" Armen became the hero of Kazaryan. The film shows the amazing adventures of the leaders of the two mafia groups with kidnappings, pursuits, substitution of heroes and disguises. And ahead - and reassessment of priorities, and a bright feeling, and even a romantic denouement.
New plans
The artist took part in the video project "Our Yard" since 1996 for a decade in the form of Ashot. He starred in all parts of the film. The picture shows the ordinary life of the inhabitants of the Yerevan courtyard, street showdowns and petty intrigues, inimitable kindness and love stories.
The claims of the house-manager are already tired of everyone, and the gossip-neighbor does not let another rumor pass by her ears, the boring eccentric loves to quote what she read for a long time, there is also an unlucky artist and an official with the kindest soul. Each character is very colorful.
A difficult relationship has developed between all the heroes. Often they just spark with tension, but at the first danger of the appearance and settling of strangers claiming to be the owners of the courtyard, the neighbors forget about disagreements and together defend each other, preserving both the traditions and the very spirit of the native courtyard.
A new work of the artist "Three weeks in Yerevan" was released on the screen in 2016. In the comedy film, he played the role of the police chief. In the story, two friends, Armen and Raffi, come to shoot a film from Los Angeles. However, many surprises await them in Yerevan. We'll have to look not only for a location for filming, but also for actors and funds. A brilliant idea is in jeopardy. Unexpected meetings, sudden revelations and just crazy incidents call into question the very existence of the project.
In 2019, in the film Honest Thieves, Ashot Surenovich appeared in the form of Vazgen.
School and family
In addition to television and cinema, the actor is busy with his own project, "School-Studio of Acting, Stage Words, Laughter and Humor." Children from 7 to 17 can study in it. All comers are accepted, there is no selection as such. According to the founder of the studio, all students are talented from the very beginning. In addition to dancing, acting and vocals, the school teaches cultural history.
The personal life of the performer also developed happily. With their chosen one Melania, a chemist by training, they became husband and wife. A son appeared in the family first, then a daughter was born. After the birth of the first child, the artist's wife decided to go to work for her husband.
They have played a creative and family duet for more than a third of a century. The dynasty was not continued by the children. Arman's son chose the path of an Arabist and a lawyer, but did not completely withdraw from creativity. His songs are performed by famous show business stars in the country.
Ashot Surenovich himself adores painting. However, he can only engage in his favorite hobby during his rare free hours. He continues to play on stage, takes care of his school, performs with the pupils at charity concerts.
