Joan Allen is an American theater and film actress, widely known in the 80s and 90s and early 2000s. Russian moviegoers know her from the film "The Bourne Supremacy", from the drama "Hachiko" and other fairly well-known films. Joanne has been nominated for an Oscar more than once, but, unfortunately, has never received this award.
Biography
In the summer of 1956, a joyful event took place in an ordinary American Allen family - on August 20, housewife Dorothy Marie and auto mechanic James Jefferson, living in the town of Rochelle, had a fourth child, a daughter named Joan.
Joan received her secondary education at a local school, was one of the best students and attended school cello courses, at the same time performing in the choir. Joan applied to the State Research University of Illinois, graduating in 1976, and in 1977 she joined the famous Chicago ensemble Steppenwolf Theater Company, where she took part in many productions, making a name for herself in the theatrical environment.
Film career
Joan's debut on the screen was the character Sally Dobs, a girl in one of the episodes of the cult TV series "The Twilight Zone" in 1985. And the first serious work of the versatile artist Allen was a small role in the film Compromising Positions directed by Frank Perry.
Before her confession, Joan had to work a lot - and she definitely could not complain about the lack of classes. Flexible, talented, attractive blonde could play any character, and she was invited to a variety of projects, from low-budget TV shows to high-grossing films. But the actress could not find her personal image that would make her famous.
The turning point happened in 1995. Director Oliver Stone decided to make a film about the 37th President of the United States, focusing on the events surrounding the Watergate scandal, and invited Joan Allen to play the role of the protagonist's wife. This turned out to be a good step for both the director and the actress. She won a Tony and was nominated for an Oscar, and the film grossed an incredible amount of money at the box office and won many awards too.
Since then, Joan's career has taken off. She has worked with such stars as Sigourney Weaver, Anthony Hopkins, John Travolta, Nicolas Cage. To date, the actress's career includes 37 works in films and television series, two prestigious awards and many theatrical works.
Personal life
In 1990, Joan was married to a little-known actor named Peter Friedman. The happy family existed for quite a long time - as much as 12 years. In 94, the actress gave birth to a girl, and when her daughter was 8 years old, the couple broke up.
Until now, Joan and Peter maintain friendly relations, together they raised their daughter and gave her a good education. To date, Allen is not romantically involved. She continues her acting career and loves to relax with her daughter.
