Konstantin Meladze is a famous Russian composer, brother of Valery Meladze, a popular pop singer. If the public knows quite a lot about Valery's personal life and work, the biography of Konstantin is not so well known in wide circles: the talented producer prefers not to stand out against the background of his "wards" stars.
Biography
Konstantin Meladze is of Georgian origin: he was born in 1963 in Batumi and grew up in a simple working-class family with his younger brother Valery and sister Liana. Since childhood, he liked everything related to music, but the boy did not succeed in studying at a music school. The teachers were convinced that he had neither hearing nor ability. And yet Konstantin did not give up his hobby, starting to independently master playing the guitar, piano and other instruments.
After school, Meladze Sr. received a higher engineering education. His brother Valery studied in the same specialty. In their student years, the young men became members of the April musical ensemble. It turned out that Valery has excellent hearing and vocal abilities, and Konstantin is quite a skillful composer and songwriter. The brothers decided to work together, and Konstantin wrote a wonderful composition "Don't disturb my soul, violin" for his brother, with which he appeared on the TV program "Morning Mail". The song became a popular hit, and the brothers instantly became famous.
In 1995 Valery and Konstantin Meladze released the album "Sera", which became one of the best-selling in Russia. Then followed the albums "The Last Romantic" and "Samba of the White Moth", no less successful than the previous one. In the early 2000s, Konstantin Meladze decided to start producing and formed the female pop group VIA Gra, which included Nadezhda Granovskaya, Vera Brezhneva and Anna Sedokova. The group's compositions took the top positions of all Russian charts, and Valery Meladze performed several songs together.
In the mid-2000s, Konstantin Meladze began active work on television. He wrote music for several holiday musicals, and also produced the project "Star Factory-7" with Valery Meladze. In 2014, Konstantin launched the "I Want to Meladze" project, the winners of which became members of a popular boy band called "M-Band".
Personal life
In 1994, Konstantin Meladze married a girl named Yana. Their relationship developed well, and the beautiful wife gave birth to three children to the composer. Unexpected news for everyone was the couple's decision to divorce in 2013, after 13 years of marriage. The reason was Konstantin's romance with a former member of the VIA Gra group Vera Brezhneva.
For some time, Meladze and Brezhnev lived in a civil marriage, until they legalized the relationship in 2015. Konstantin is 19 years older than his new wife. However, the lovers are quite happy together.
The personal life and career of Konstantin Meladze were overshadowed by the fact that in 2012 the composer, inadvertently, knocked down a woman crossing the road in his car, who later died. The deceased left two orphaned children. The composer publicly promised to keep them at his own expense until the age of majority, having performed this word. Thanks to deep remorse, the support of the victims and other extenuating circumstances, Meladze was released from criminal prosecution.
