Biography

Hans Zimmer was born in Frankfurt am Main on September 12, 1957, the son of an engineer and a housewife. The famous composer says that his mother was a musical woman, that from her he inherited a good taste for music. But little Hans was repeatedly kicked out of various music schools due to lack of attention in piano lessons.

With the advent of computers and electronic music, Zimmer began to play again. The piano lessons he took as a child somehow settled in him and began to give results in the form of a new sound. Zimmer spent more time modifying and playing with sounds than making music.

He was a creative youth and, when his father died, fell into a deep depression. Music became a medicine for his soul, and his talent grew. And soon it was time to get serious about a career as a musician.

An important role in his life was played by his acquaintance with Stanley Myers, in whose work Hans learned to combine classical orchestral sounds with modern electronic ones. With Myers, he worked on the films "Insignificance" and "Moonlight Detective Agency".

After several films, Zimmer's career came to a turning point when the 1987 film "The Last Emperor" won the Academy Award for Best Soundtrack.
