At the beginning of the path
Plato's biography began in 1985 in the city of Sevastopol. The child learned to read early, after which he never parted with books. Like most boys, during his school years he was especially fascinated by the novels of Stevenson and Jules Verne. In high school, the teenager became interested in music and formed a band that played in the styles of punk rock and hard rock.
Besedin graduated from the Technical University with a degree in radio electronics. Later he was educated as a psychologist in Kiev. As a student, Plato played in KVN and even reached the semifinals of the official league. For a long time, the young man was looking for his place in life, he worked as a test engineer, designer, teacher, sommelier, security guard, copywriter.
Career
The first "adult" work of Plato was published in 2002, the story was called "Metamorphoses". His debut publication is considered the story "Hunger" in the magazine "Girl with an Oar" in 2002. Besedin's early stories were included in the collection of Crimean prose "Under the Table" (2006) and "U-Bahn" (2008), published in Germany. Subsequent works of the author were published in the magazines "Druzhba Narodov", "Our Contemporary", "Youth", "Moskovsky Komsomolets", "Literaturnaya Gazeta". Later, his prose and critical articles were included in the collective collections "Russian Autobahn", "Litera" and "Stories of New Writers" (2011), "Paradise Station" (2012), "Our Sins" (2013).
In 2012, the Russian publishing house Aletheia published the first novel by the writer, The Book of Sin. Thanks to the Shiko publishing house, the book was also published in Ukraine. During the presentation of his novel to readers, Besedin made a tour of major Ukrainian cities, visited St. Petersburg and Moscow. The first major work of the writer was characterized as "well, easily and tough, written prose." The main character, wanting to participate in history, becomes a member of a totalitarian sect and joins the party. He smashes the old order, grows up and searches for himself and his place in life. The book's interesting plot and social orientation quickly made it a bestseller, and brought popularity to the author.
A new success in 2014 brought the writer a collection of short stories "Ribs". The book was nominated for several awards for young writers at once. In the same year, Besedin's new novel Teacher. Novel of Changes”, which got into the semifinals of the prestigious Russian literary awards.
During the armed conflict in southern Ukraine in 2015, Plato brought humanitarian aid to the territory of the LPR. His impressions of working in a humanitarian mission were reflected in the collection “Diary of a Russian Ukrainian. Euromaidan, Crimean Spring, Donbass Massacre”.
A new step in the career of a writer was the book, which was published in 2017. The novel "Children of December" consists of stories. Their main theme is the road. The stories tell about refugees from Donbass, about a Crimean family who leaves for Kiev and then comes back. This movement is a historical reality, as if snatched from news bulletins, with many details, and very true.
Quite recently, a new collection of the writer “Why can't Russians dream?” Appeared on store shelves. about the uneasy relationship between East and West. In the typical author's manner, Plato sets out their history from the church schism to the present day.

Since 2012, Platon Besedin has been publishing publicistic articles in the Ukrainian and Russian media. A member of the Writers' Union of Russia supports young Ukrainian colleagues. The writer's collections became finalists and winners of many competitions in the field of literature. The books have been translated into foreign languages and published abroad.
