Eno Raud is an Estonian children's writer. The book "Muff, Polbootinka and Mokhovaya Beard" brought him fame. He created the books "Sipsik", "Pumpkin", wrote scripts for cartoons and retold the national epic "Kalevipoeg" for children.

Soon the hero of the work himself turned into one of the recognizable symbols of national literature for children. According to the plot, Mart, the older brother, decided to give his sister a toy for her birthday. The boy decided to sew it himself. From scraps, cotton wool and the thread with a needle given to him by his grandmother, Mart creates a future present. But the result upset the master. The toy turned out to be ugly.
The brother had dreamed of a completely different gift for Anu. Disappointed with the results of labor, the boy called the work not a toy made by hand, but a sipsik. The doll suddenly came to life and began to talk to the children. Only Ano and Mart can hear it. The rest are not subject to communication. Children never part with their favorite toy.
With warmth, the composition tells the story of ordinary guys. Something extraordinary suddenly comes into their lives, which the people around them do not even suspect. The guys have their own secret. In childhood, for sure, all the kids dreamed of something like this.
The book has been translated into many foreign languages. She won worldwide popularity, Tatyana Teppa translated the work into Russian most successfully. The retelling of Gennady Muravin is also popular, but with the replacement of the author's names with consonant Russians. The books were reprinted in 2012, in 2008 an additional issue was made for the 80th anniversary of the author.
Poems for children
Illustrations by Edgar Walter are recognized as reference. They were originally intended for a book. However, there were still options. In the 1982 edition, the artist German Ogorodnikov presented Sipsik as a blonde, dressed in a white shirt with red polka dots and white trousers with blue stripes.
