Ten films will be presented by the organizers of the 69th Venice Film Festival in the retrospective "80!", Which is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the event. Among the selected rare seven full-length and three short films, there is a film by Russian directors of 1936 - "The Final Night" by Julius Raizman and Dmitry Vasiliev. The films were selected from the collection of the Historical Archive of Contemporary Art at the Biennale.

The main competition program of the 69th Venice Film Festival was reduced to 18 films. Among them was the picture of the Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov "Treason". In addition to him, films by directors Paul Thomas Anderson (The Master), Brian De Palma (Passion), Kim Ki Duk (Pieta), Takeshi Kitano (Mayhem 2), Brilliant Mendoza (Your origins ") and others. The opening of the Venice Film Festival 2012 will be the film "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" by Mira Nair.

In addition to the main one, at the 69th Venice Film Festival films will be shown in the parallel program "Horizons". In 2012, stricter rules were introduced for the selection of participating paintings in this direction. But, despite all the difficult aspects, Alexei Balabanov's picture "I Want To Do It Too" occupies a well-deserved place in the list of films of the Horizons program.

At the 69th Venice Film Festival, there was also a place for young, unknown directors. A short film competition was held by the YouTube video portal. Applications for participation were accepted from directors from all over the world. The voting, which was attended by viewers of the Internet video portal, selected the top 10 works by directors from the UK, Australia, Brazil, Egypt, Portugal, Spain and Lebanon. These films will be screened at the film festival, and the winner will receive a prize of $ 500,000 for shooting a feature film. The choice of the most talented director was entrusted to the British Ridley and Tony Scott.
