The World Trade Organization (WTO was created in 1995, its purpose is to regulate trade and political relations of its member states. The entry of any country into it provides for the latter certain changes in political and economic life. And Russia will not be an exception.
Russia's accession to the WTO implies both positive and negative consequences. The first include a possible acceleration of GDP growth, which, according to calculations, should increase from 3 to 11%, as well as the creation of prerequisites for improving the business climate in the world political arena and removing administrative barriers. Also, a pleasant addition should be America's abolition of the Jackson Vanik amendment, which restricts trade with Russian companies.
The negative consequences of joining the WTO, of which there are much more, include, for example, the destruction of domestic industry and agriculture. Due to the sharp reduction in duties on imported goods, they will flood Russian counters. And their cheap price in comparison with domestic counterparts will lead to the fact that Russian manufacturers simply cannot compete with them.
And since, according to the terms of the WTO, Russia will refuse to support certain industries through subsidies or preferential taxes, there will be massive bankruptcies of enterprises, unemployment, the country's inability to independently provide its market and, as a result, dependence in all areas on other countries. Thus, the pharmaceutical, automotive, food industries and many others may lose their existence. And the Russian consumer will completely switch to the use of cheap goods and the consumption of genetically modified products.
Also will be raised to world prices for transport tariffs, fuel and electricity. Thus, you will have to pay an equal cost for using the natural resources of your home country. And since the average income of Russians is much lower than, for example, of Europeans, this can lead to poverty and, as a consequence, to a shorter life expectancy.
