Belarusian composer Yevgeny Glebov is called one of the founders of the modern republican composer school. The conductor and teacher was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR.
In the house of Yevgeny Alexandrovich's parents, musical evenings of improvisation were constantly held. The relatives perfectly played various instruments and sang. The atmosphere of creativity has noticeably influenced the child. He became interested in music early on.
The path to the vocation
The biography of the future composer began in 1929. He was born in the town of Roslavl on September 10 in the family of a railway worker. The boy independently learned to play the mandolin, mastered the guitar, balalaika. As an adult, he started composing muses.
Despite the love of art, the parents did not support the aspiration of their son, who chose his passion for the work of life. They assured him that the profession should provide confidence in the future. Eugene yielded to the pressure. He continued his education after school at the local technical school of railway transport. During his studies, the student led the orchestra and choir.
The graduate began to work in Mogilev. But even during the tense and very difficult exhausting work, he did not stop dreaming of a musical career. Since Glebov did not receive a special musical education, at the exam at the Mogilev school, the commission decided that he could not become a student without special training.
The famous cymbalist Zhinovich helped the talented self-taught man. He considered the young man's talent and recommended that the gifted self-taught be admitted to the republican state conservatory. Glebov began his studies there in 1950. He was educated at the composing department. At first, the guy had a hard time, his knowledge base on the chosen profession turned out to be catastrophically small.
Mastering the piano was especially difficult. Perseverance overcame all obstacles. Eugene was appointed inspector of the conservatory choir. At the graduation concert, the student amazed everyone with a virtuoso performance of Grieg's work.
Confession
During the years of study, Glebov wrote with enthusiasm and a lot. He wrote the symphonic poem Masheka, a fantasy for piano and orchestra. The individuality of the author was clearly visible in the work. Flexibility and intonation melodiousness were ideally combined with the expressiveness of the orchestral coloring.
After graduating from the conservatory, Glebov created the ballet Dream and Polesie Suite. By the end of the sixties, many new masterpieces appeared. Songs of the young author sounded on the stage, his music accompanied performances and films. The ballets The Chosen One, The Alpine Ballad and the Fourth Symphony were especially notable.
In the seventies, work was completed on the new ballet Till Ulenspiegel. The composer wrote oratorios and suites on the poems of national poets, created choreographic compositions, vocal miniatures. All compositions were distinguished by the ideality of style.
The ballet "The Little Prince" and the oratorio "Invitation to the Land of Childhood" became the result of his reflections on the theme of childhood. Together with Glebov, she worked on the creation of his husband's libretto. The works largely determined the philosophical orientation of creativity. The Little Prince acted as a kind of bridge to the opera The Master and Margarita. She and the Sixth Symphony turned into perfect carriers of the composer's creative ideas at a later time.
Time to create
Genre music has always been the main thing for a musician. He made his debut with Fantasy on two Belarusian themes. After her were created Concertino for Orchestra and Cymbals, "Festive Poem", "Festive Overture". In each composition, the technical capabilities of folk instruments were manifested to the maximum.
The author worked very fruitfully in the song field. For the stage, he wrote in his youth. His authorship belongs to "White Sail", "Golden Autumn", "Night Stagecoach". Fantasia on the theme of the folk song "Quail" is very interesting. The composer did not disregard the national cinema.
He created melodies for the films "The Last Summer of Childhood", "Amnesty", "The Wild Hunt of King Stakh", "Beloved". The name of Glebov was also famous outside Belarus. His works have been performed by many theater groups and performed by orchestras.
A lot of time was occupied by teaching activity. The professor and academician of the International Slavic Academy of Sciences brought up the famous students. Among them are Eduard Hanok, and Yadviga Poplavskaya, and Vladimir Kondrusevich.
Family and work
Evgeny Alexandrovich founded a new tradition. It was picked up and developed by the young composers of the republic. In 1999 Glebov was awarded the Order of Francysk Skaryna for his enormous contribution to the development of national art.
Music helped Glebov in arranging his personal life. While recording a suite from the ballet Dream on the radio, he met his future wife. In alliance with Larisa Vasilievna, a child appeared, the son of Rodion. He chose a musical career, becoming, like his father, a composer.
The musician passed away in 2000, on January 12. In 2003, a memorial sign was installed on the house where the composer lived in Minsk. The name of the artist is borne both by the republican capital music school No. 10 and by the street.
