Today, in the age of the triumph of science, there are few people who are ready to believe in magic. However, films about witchcraft and magic still have an appeal, because they allow you to temporarily disconnect from the familiar and predictable reality and plunge into mysterious fairy-tale worlds. The most popular and interesting are the following films about magic.
Warlock (1989)
A horror film directed by Steve Miner, tells the story of an evil sorcerer who escaped from his execution from the Middle Ages in 1988. The fugitive is pursued by his nemesis Giles Redfern. As it turned out, the sorcerer has a goal - to put together an ancient book with which you can find out the real name of the god. The sorcerer is going to pronounce the name in reverse and thus cause the end of the world.
Hocus Pocus (1993)
In the comedy fantasy film directed by Kenny Ortega, three insidious witches are resurrected, who were executed 300 years ago. The Sanderson sisters want to get eternal youth, for this they need to eat all the children in the city. In addition, witches need to get used to new morals that have changed greatly over the past centuries. But, carried away by various magical nastiness, the sisters completely forgot about their cunning enemy - a black cat.
Witchcraft (1996)
The mystical thriller directed by Andrew Fleming shows the arrival of a troubled teenager Sarah Bailey in Los Angeles, who is trying to start a new life in a Catholic school. There she meets unusual girls Rochelle, Nancy and Bonnie, who are fond of occult rites. New friends inform Sarah that she also has witchcraft abilities. The appearance of the fourth witch allows the girls to use powerful spells, and they begin to change anything they don't like. However, the awakened magical powers are not so easy to control.
Sleepy Hollow (1999)
A gothic horror film by Tim Burton, based on the novel by Washington Irving, is devoted to the investigation of a chain of mysterious murders in a small village called Sleepy Hollow. All the victims of the crimes were beheaded and their heads disappeared. Locals claim that the murderer is the mysterious headless horseman. The main character of the film, the New York constable Ichabod Crane, soon becomes convinced that evil spirits are really involved in this whole story.
Lord of the rings (2001-2003)
The famous film trilogy by Peter Jackson, based on the novel of the same name by J. R. R. Tolkien, is dedicated to the world of Middle-earth. The dark lord Sauron creates magic rings and transfers them to the leaders of the three main races of Middle-earth - elves, humans and dwarfs. But in secret from everyone, Sauron forges another ring that can enslave the owners of all the other rings. The united army of elves and people managed to defeat Sauron, but the Ring of Omnipotence survived and was soon lost. Hundreds of years passed, Sauron regained strength. To finally defeat the Dark Lord, the ring must be destroyed. But the ring also has its own will and dreams of returning to its former owner. No one can resist the destructive influence of the Ring of Omnipotence, except for the hobbits - a small cheerful people living in the northwest of Middle-earth.
Harry Potter (2001-2011)
A series of 7 films based on the novels by J. K. Rowling tells the story of the young wizard Harry Potter. When Harry was very young, the most powerful dark wizard of all time, Voldemort, killed his parents. But he did not manage to kill the boy: Harry somehow miraculously survived, and Voldemort disappeared. The orphaned wizard, who knows nothing about his magical abilities, is brought up by relatives who poison his life in every possible way. But everything changes when, on the day of his eleventh birthday, Harry receives a letter from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Ahead of the young wizard are years of study, acquaintance with true friends, many adventures and, of course, a fight with his sworn enemy Voldemort.
