Sergey Polin is a Ukrainian historian, a specialist in archaeological excavations carried out in the steppe regions of Ukraine. This is the author of works dedicated to the world famous Scythian royal mound, Gaimanova Mogila.

A family. Education. Work

Polin Sergey Vasilievich was born in 1952 in Kiev of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. His mother and father were Soviet servicemen.

After graduating from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev in 1990, Polin received the title of Candidate of Sciences, having defended a thesis on the historical theme of the inhabitants of the northern Black Sea steppes in the third and second centuries BC. Since 1993, Sergey Vasilievich has been a senior researcher at the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. At 58 years old, Pauline is a Corresponding Member of the famous German Archaeological Institute (from German: Deutsches Archäologisches Institut) in Berlin, which is the oldest and largest in the world in the field of archaeological and scientific research.

Sergey Vasilievich Polin is a specialist in the field of archaeological monuments of the Scythian and early Sarmatian culture, his contribution to the history of antiquity is invaluable. For more than 40 years of his life, Polin has been excavating and researching burial mounds of different time periods in the steppes of Ukraine. In the process of excavation, it covers the territories of a number of Ukrainian regions, starting from Zaporozhye and moving to the northwest, covering Dnepropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Cherkassk and other regions (territorial coverage of excavations: from the Dnieper to the borders with Russia).

Scientific works

Throughout his life, Pauline has repeatedly led archaeological expeditions organized to explore ancient burial mounds, burials and objects in them. Studying and excavating the Scythian royal burial mounds and devoting his whole life to this, Paulin wrote several solid scientific works on the topic of his research.

Sergei Vasilyevich donated his monographs to a number of Russian museums: the Scientific and Methodological Center of Archeology of the Southern Federal University, the Rostov Regional Museum of Local Lore, the Historical, Archaeological and Paleontological Museum - the Azov City Reserve, the Tanais Historical and Archaeological Museum - an open-air reserve.
