Biography
Yuri Shatunov was born in 1973 in the city of Kumertau of the Bashkir Autonomous Republic (now the Republic of Bashkortostan). Contrary to popular belief, after birth, no one refused him, and the boy was brought up by his parents - Vasily Klimenko and Vera Shatunova, whose surname the future singer later took for himself. And yet, Yura's virginity was not easy: his father often drank, and there were almost always scandals in the family.
At the age of eleven, Shatunov suffered another misfortune: his mother fell seriously ill, because of which she had to place her son in a boarding school. The woman could not cope with the disease, and she died, and Yura, having escaped from an educational institution, began to wander, gradually moving to the Orenburg region. In 1985, he got into the attention of social services and was assigned to one of the Orenburg boarding schools.
At the boarding school, Yuri Shatunov enrolled in a music circle and made friends with its leader Sergei Kuznetsov. It was he who organized the "Tender May" group, inviting Yura and other talented children from the orphanage to join it. The band recorded several songs and began performing at city dance evenings. The group's repertoire continued to grow. Future hits appeared: "Summer", "Gray Night", "White Roses".
In 1988, producer Andrei Razin met with the band members. He quickly became friends with the band and even took part in the writing of several songs. Razin also took over the leadership of the group. Together, they began distributing their own audio cassettes to long-distance train conductors. About "Tender May" quickly became known throughout the country, and the concerts of the group thundered for a long time in different cities.
Yuri Shatunov became a popular favorite and a dream of thousands of girls. He performed dozens of songs and took part in the recording of over twenty albums. By 1991, the young man had already noticeably changed and became more and more like a man. He felt less and less confident on stage, and, in addition, the collapse of the USSR had a strong impact on the Russian stage. Against the background of all this, the group "Tender May" broke up, and Yura Shatunov went into a solo career.
Personal life
In 2000, during a tour in Germany, Yuri Shatunov met his future wife Svetlana. She worked as an ordinary lawyer and still remains an extremely non-public person. In the marriage, which was officially concluded in 2007, the son Dennis was born, and later the daughter Estella was born.
Yuri Shatunov continues to perform on stage and record his own compositions. On his own behalf, he released seven albums, the last of which, titled "Don't Be Silent," was released in 2018. The singer actually lives in two countries - Russia and Germany. Today he is a frequent guest of retro concerts and is involved in charitable activities, helping orphanages.
