There are very funny characters in the list of popular Russian writers. These include Venedikt Erofeev.
Childhood
According to data from open sources, Venedikt Vasilyevich Venediktov appeared in this world on October 24, 1938 in a large family of a railway worker. At that time, my father served as the head of the Chupa station in Karelia. The future writer turned out to be the fifth child in the house. From the very beginning, life did not spoil him. In those days, life was difficult. The shortages of provisions and clothing were constantly felt. Little Vienna had to wear things that were left over from the older children. On top of that, the war began, and the Erofeevs escaped hunger only by their vegetable garden.
In the biography of Venedikt Vasilyevich, it is noted that the boy learned letters early and began to put words out of them. Naturally, there was no writing paper available, and he was scratching something on the scraps of newspaper with a stub of a pencil. It can be stated with sadness that in such indescribable conditions Erofeev's creative career began. He constantly watched how the neighbors lived, why they were drinking bitter and what they were talking about after a modest snack. In the fall of 1945, Venya went to school with his brother. They had one briefcase for two.
Creativity and wanderings
Erofeev studied excellently at school and completed his secondary education with a gold medal. At that time, there were benefits for medalists - Venedikt was admitted to the philological faculty of Moscow State University without exams. The freedom and temptations of the big city did not work well for the student from the provinces. In 1957, he was expelled from his second year for academic failure. However, between truancy and spree, the young man was engaged in literary work. Several times Erofeev got a job, but the result was always the same - he was fired for absenteeism and drunkenness.
From the height of the past years, it is difficult for an ignorant person to understand how, with such a lifestyle, Benedict was able to write his works. Some experts sadly state that the talent cannot be spent on drink. This is only partly true. Of the five completed works that are available to posterity, the novel "Moscow-Petushki" brought fame to the writer. The author himself called this text a prose poem. It is important to note that this famous "poem" was perceived mainly by literary critics and fellow writers.
Private side of the process
Almost everything is known about Venechka Erofeev's personal life. He tried to start a family twice. Love in his heart found a small corner in spite of homeless childhood and wasted youth. In 1964, the writer met and fell in love with Valya Zimakova. A year and a half later, they had a son. Husband and wife were rarely together. Erofeev regularly fell into binges and wandered about who knows where. Not surprisingly, the marriage fell apart.
The second time Benedict tied the knot in 1975 with Galina Nosova. For almost fifteen years, they tried to establish a normal life. However, the pathological craving for alcohol faced the spouses with an insurmountable obstacle. Erofeev was heavy and ill for a long time. Postponed several complex operations. Alas, medicine was powerless. The writer passed away in May 1990.
