Soon it will probably be possible to say that the "expansion of Skarsgard" has begun in the film industry, because four actors with this surname, led by the father of the family, have already become famous in Sweden and in the world. In addition to his father, Stellan's sons, Alexander, Billy and Gustav, are successfully filmed in the cinema.
Stellan's father was also an amateur theater artist, so we can say that the third generation of their kind has become actors.
Biography
Stellan Skarsgård was born in 1951 in the city of Gothenburg. However, his childhood passed in different parts of Sweden: they lived in the village of Totebo, where there were only two hundred inhabitants, in the town of Kalmar and the city of Uppsala. These places have different nature, their own way of life and customs, and each time the family adapts to new conditions.
Stellan's father sometimes played in amateur productions, and each time the boy was surprised that familiar people on the stage transform into completely different, unlike themselves.
Parents were not against this hobby, but persuaded their son to get a "serious" profession. Stellan was so confident in himself that right from school he went to the Royal Drama Theater, moving to Stockholm.
This was not his mistake - after all, at the age of sixteen he was assigned albeit small, but important roles in the theater. Thanks to this, filmmakers noticed him and began to invite him to shoot.
Film career
Stellan's first roles in television projects were insignificant, and he was just gaining experience on the set, looking at the performance of famous artists.
And after the project "Bombie Bitt and Me" the actor even began to be recognized on the street. In 1968 he got a role in the film "This Year" - this is a full-length film.
Stellan's dream of the title role soon came true: he played a student in Anita: The Diary of a Teenage Girl (1973). This was followed by various roles in films and TV series, and eight years later a pleasant event happened in Skarsgård's life: for his role in the film "Ingenious Murder" he received the Berlin "Silver Bear" for the role of Sven.
For a while, Stellan was in demand only by Swedish directors, and in the late eighties Hollywood became interested in him. The role of the engineer in the film "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" did not bring him much fame. But the image of the submarine commander in the film "The Hunt for" Red October "was more noticeable. Moreover, this film starred Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin.
After these roles, an important stage came in Skarsgard's life: they began to invite him to roles that were interesting to implement. Moreover, they were very different. And the films in which the actor starred received wide resonance and love of the audience.
For example, these were roles in the films Breaking the Waves (1996), Dancing in the Dark (2000), Dogville (2003), Melancholy (2011), Nymphomaniac (2013). Each of these films can be called a masterpiece, they are so poignant and exciting.
The actor himself liked to play in the films "Pirates of the Caribbean", "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and the musical "Mamma Mia!", Where he sang songs of the "ABBA" ensemble.
The second decade of the twenty-first century brought Skarsgård even more interesting roles. These were the Marvel films, both parts of Thor, as well as The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Stellan's last works are roles in the films "The Man Who Killed Don Quitoh" and "Mamma Mia 2". The famous actor is planning future shooting for several years in advance.
Personal life

The actor entered into a second marriage with producer Megan Everett, they still live together. In this family, the spouses have two sons. The Skarsgart family lives in Sweden.
