The entire Soviet Union knew this performer in the 80s. When Nikolai Gnatyuk appeared on television with his song about the drum, people abandoned all their affairs to whole families and gathered in front of the screens. The audience was attracted by Nikolai's bright style of performance and charismatic appearance.
From the biography of Nikolai Hnatyuk
The future popular performer was born on September 14, 1952 in the village of Nemirovka (Ukraine). His mother taught in elementary grades, his father was in charge of the collective farm. After graduating from high school, Nikolai entered the music and pedagogical faculty of the Rivne Pedagogical Institute. Already in his youth, Gnatyuk decided on a profession: he dreamed of becoming a musician.
The ascent to the heights of creativity for Hnatiuk began with participation in the ensemble "We are Odessites". The future singer also honed his performing talent during his military service: Gnatyuk served in the ensemble of the Guards Army, created on the basis of a group of Soviet troops in Germany.
At the end of the service, Nikolai takes lessons at the music studio of the Leningrad Music Hall. In the same years, Gnatyuk made many tours of the USSR as part of the famous Druzhba ensemble, which was popular in the country.
Nikolay Hnatyuk's creative career
Nicholas from a young age joined music, but real popularity came to him only in 1978: then he took part in the contest of pop artists held in Ukraine and took first place in it. A year later, the singer added third place in the all-Union competition to his achievements. In 1980, Gnatyuk won the Grand Prix at the Intervision Festival in Sopot. The success was consolidated by a significant performance at the pop performers competition in Dresden.
The peak of Nikolai Vasilyevich's popularity came at the beginning of the 80s. The audience enthusiastically accepted the compositions "Dance on a Drum", "Bird of Happiness", "If the City Dances" performed by him. These light and catchy melodies were very often sounded on radio and television. The whole country sang them.
Nikolay Gnatyuk devoted a lot of time to solo performances, but did not neglect work with musical groups either. Among his partners are ensembles "Malvy", "Mriya", "Crossword".
In the late 80s, one of the most popular performers of the Land of the Soviets moved to live in Germany. He suspended his concert activities for several years and disappeared from the musical horizon. The singer's return to the stage took place in 1993.
At the age of 47, Gnatyuk entered the Belgorod Theological Seminary, at its missionary department. Since then, the theme of faith has often slipped into the singer's work. In recent years, Nikolai often appears on television and gives concerts, but mainly in Ukraine.
Nikolai met his only wife Natalia during an interview. An intelligent and beautiful girl attracted the attention of the singer, and soon they began dating. After the wedding, a son Oles appeared in a young family, who grew up in Germany.
