At the end of June 2012, blogger Alexei Navalny, widely known as a fighter against corruption, announced the fact of illegal hacking of his electronic posts and Twitter account. In his statement, which was sent to the Investigative Committee, he expressed the opinion that the hacking was carried out through those computers and iPads that were seized from him during the search, which was carried out in the framework of the Bolotnaya Square riot case on May 6.

The Investigative Committee did not begin to investigate the issue of hacking Navalny's e-mail; it handed over the statement in accordance with the criminal procedural legislation "by investigation" - to the police, the Central Internal Affairs Directorate in Moscow.

Hacking e-mail and social media accounts is illegal in Russia, as it is personal correspondence that is not intended for outsiders. Article 23 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation still provides for the right of a citizen to inviolability of private life, privacy of correspondence, telephone conversations, postal and other messages. This right can be limited only on the basis of a court decision, which was not.

Therefore, it makes no sense to talk about what the police found in Navalny's mail - whatever is written in the personal mail and whatever facts are stated in it, discussing these issues and taking any measures will be illegal. At least, until a case is initiated against Navalny and an official decision of the judicial authorities follows on the perlusion of his personal mail.

Meanwhile, the hacker who claimed responsibility for the illegal hacking, working under the pseudonym "Hell", began to upload fragments of Navalny's correspondence to the Internet. At first, his epistolary dialogue with the current governor of the Kirov region Nikita Belykh made a lot of noise, then information about a certain offshore company was posted, which, judging by the correspondence, is related to Navalny.

It is understandable that the authorities want to silence and get rid of a person who systematically lays out to the public the facts of undisguised corruption actions on the part of government officials. Fortunately, Navalny has a legal education and acts strictly in accordance with the law - all the charges against him are confirmed by documents.

Discussion of a citizen's personal correspondence, in any case, contradicts not only the legislation, but the moral norms of a civilized society. However, today, when in Russia these norms are violated at the highest level, it is simply ridiculous to refer to them.
