From the biography of Vladimir Maslachenko
The future famous sports commentator was born on March 5, 1936 in the village of Vasilyevka, in the Dnepropetrovsk region. During the war, the Maslachenko family moved to the North Caucasus by evacuation. Vladimir made friends with sports during his school years. He chased the ball in the yard team, stood at the goal, was a striker. In addition to football, Maslachenko was fond of volleyball, basketball, ping-pong, athletics.
In 1951, Vladimir was admitted to the Stroitel football team. Then he moved to the "Spartak" team of the city of Krivoy Rog. Maslachenko took part in tournaments of the republican level more than once and was even recognized as the best goalkeeper.
Two years later, Vladimir received an invitation to play in the Dnipropetrovsk team "Metallurg". Around the same years, he studied for three years at the medical institute.
In the team Maslachenko always occupied the position of the goalkeeper. He was the best domestic goalkeeper for a number of years - from the late 50s to the mid 60s.
In 1956, Vladimir Nikitovich was invited to the main team of the Soviet Union. On his account - eight official matches and more than twenty friendly matches. Participated in the 1958 World Cup, in the 1960 European Cup.
In the early 60s, Maslachenko moved to the capital "Spartak", where he played until 1969. He was elected the captain of this team. On his account - more than three hundred matches at the national championships.

After completing his football career, Maslachenko switched to sports journalism. Over time, Vladimir Nikitovich became one of the most popular and sought-after sports commentators in the Soviet Union, and then in Russia. The talented commentator worked at All-Union Radio and Central Television from 1970 to 1991.
For a long time, Vladimir Nikitovich worked as a sports commentator on the Vremya program. He has successfully covered sports events of the all-Union and international scale. His reports covered not only football tournaments, but also sailing, freestyle, alpine skiing, and martial arts competitions. Maslachenko took a direct part in the creation of the Eurosport channel.
One of the best sports commentators in the country passed away on November 28, 2010. Vladimir Maslachenko was married. His wife Olga is a leading patent specialist. The son, Valery Vladimirovich, followed in his father's footsteps: he graduated from the Institute of Physical Education and began to work as a coach.
