Nikolai Stepanovich Safronov is a popular Russian artist who is in great demand at the moment both in his homeland and abroad. He is better known under the pseudonym Nikas Safronov. He took it for himself because his mother, whom he loved very much, was half Finnish - half Lithuanian - hence this pseudonym.
Childhood and adolescence of Nikas Safronov
The artist was born into a large and very poor family of a retired military man on April 8, 1956 in the city on the Volga of Ulyanovsk. In addition to him, there were five other children in his family - these are four brothers and one sister, whom he loved very much and carries this love to this day.
Nikas Safronov's parents were deeply religious people. Father (Stepan Grigorievich Safronov) hails from a family of priests, in several generations. Mom (Anna Fedorovna Safronova) is a native of the city of Panevizhes, Lithuania.
While still in school, Nikas became interested in drawing. He copied illustrations for books, copied what he saw, created his own special style of drawing. But, nevertheless, becoming an artist at that time, he was not going to. After he finished eight classes (incomplete secondary school), he entered the nautical school, which was located in Odessa, and even studied there for a year. But the passion for drawing took its toll and, leaving the sailor, he entered the art school in the city of Rostov-on-Don (1975).
Personal life and work of the artist
From this time on, the author's adult life begins. He has to combine his studies at school with work. He worked as a loader, janitor, artist - props in the theater, watchman. The work helped him to study at the school, which, like the first, he also did not finish, since he was taken into the army, which he successfully served in the city of Valna.
After the army, he continues to work related to drawing. Works in his mother's homeland as a theater designer, fabric designer. Then, having moved to Vilnius, Safronov entered and graduated from the State Art Institute (1978-1982). In 1991 he moved to Moscow. He enters and graduates from the Surikov Institute and finally remains in the capital.
But, already, since 1973, Nikas Safronov writes a lot, exhibits and also sells his works. His personal exhibitions bring him great fame, even in his small homeland.
In Moscow, the artist not only paints pictures, but also works a lot: as a consultant, artist, art director in famous magazines such as Penthouse, World of Stars, Diplomat and others no less famous. But the main thing, of course, is that he is engaged in his main business - his work.
Safronov is known to a wide circle of lovers of his work as a talented portrait painter who painted many portraits of our political and public figures (Putin, Medvedev), film actors (Mikhalkov, Kidman) and stage (Kirkorov, Madonna).
