Kalin Roman Igorevich is a famous Ukrainian musician, singer, radio host and sound engineer. Leader of the hip-hop group "Greenjola". The author of the famous song "At Once We Are Bagato".
Biography
The future musician was born in April 1968 on the seventeenth in the small Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk. From an early age he developed a craving for music, at school he studied rather mediocre, but his musical talent was obvious. Parents decided to enroll him in a music school, they chose the button accordion as the main instrument.
Despite the fact that music has become an integral part of Roman's life, after graduating from school, he decided to continue his studies at the Institute of Oil and Gas. At that time, he did not have high hopes for his talent and intended to get a "real" profession. After graduating from the institute, Kalin went to the army. There, political instructors discerned his talent and sent him to serve in the orchestra. After demobilization in 1988, he went into business. He worked in a furniture store, and in the early nineties he occupied the most profitable niche of those years: he opened the first computer club in Ivano-Frankivsk.
Musical career
By the mid-nineties, the craving for music took up, and Kalin opened a recording studio. In 1997, together with his friend Roma Kostyukov, he created the Greenjoly musical group. A group with an unusual sound began to perform at various events and music festivals, including "Melodiya" and "Perlini sezona". The group not only gained popularity, but also won several respectable awards.
The year 2004 in Ukraine was rich in events, and Kalin and his friend became direct participants. They recorded the song "At Once We Are Bound", and this track instantly spread throughout the country and became the unofficial anthem of the growing Orange Revolution. In 2005, the team was sent to perform at Eurovision from Ukraine. They were to perform their main hit "At Once We Are Bagato", but for the competition the song was significantly altered, all political motives were removed, and some of the verses were translated into English.
Despite the thorough preparation, staging of the number, specially made costumes and choreography, the performance turned out to be a failure. The group took the nineteenth place, this was the worst result in Ukraine for the entire period of the competition.
In 2006, Roman Igorevich decided to go into politics and put forward his candidacy in the elections to the Ivano-Frankivsk city council from the "Time!" Party. Despite his popularity, he lost the election. After that, interest in the team began to fall rapidly and the group was on the verge of collapse. Today Kalin is mainly engaged in production activities and solo performances, their team "Greenjoly" formally exists, but the public does not have much interest in him.
Personal life
The famous Ukrainian musician is married. The wife's name is Tatiana, they have a daughter Natasha, who is engaged in folk dances.
