Origins and biography
Ivan Gerasimovich Lapikov was born into a family of peasants. His mother gave birth to him while working in the field on July 7, 1922 on the Zayachiy farm (Volgograd region). From childhood he was fascinated by creativity, the stage was his main dream. Parents did not approve of his hobbies due to extreme piety. Despite their dissatisfaction, he entered to study at the Palace of Culture. Lenin in Stalingrad. In the orchestra, consisting only of string instruments, Lapikov enjoyed playing the balalaika, a little later he entered the drama club and went to Kharkov. The beginning of the war forced him to interrupt his studies; he spent only 2 courses at the school.
Family and career
In 1941 he began work at the drama theater in Stalingrad and devoted 20 years to it. 6 years after starting work, he met there his life partner - noblewoman Yulia Fridman. In 1950, they had a daughter, Elena, whose grandmother took care of her, because Lapikov and Fridman constantly disappeared at work. When Elena was 29 years old, she gave her parents a grandson Alexei. Lapikov doted on him, he constantly studied with him. By the way, thanks to Lapikov, by the age of ten, Alexei had read all of Gogol's works. Fate gave love and happiness to Lapikov in his personal life.
The scene was part of the life of Ivan Gerasimovich, where he did not work for the sake of wealth. The family has always lived modestly, despite his fame. In each of his roles, he literally "dissolved", in the cinema he was nicknamed "The King of Episodes". Surprisingly, there were few main roles in his creative career. Sometimes the role was so secondary that his participation was not even noted in the credits. But this did not upset Lapikov, but only motivated him to work harder.

In the cinema, Ivan Gerasimovich embodied a man of the people, he quite often got the role of peasants. He became famous after playing a role in the famous film "The Chairman", then he was already 42 years old. A few years later Lapikov got a central role in the film "Andrei Rublev". Colleagues on the set recall how difficult it was to work with him. He got used to the role so much that he did not always follow the script and directions from the leadership. In 1973, Ivan Gerasimovich became the Laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR named after I. The Vasilyev brothers, and in 1979 - the USSR State Prize Laureate, Lapikov suffered a stroke, the consequences of which he treated for the rest of his life. In 1993, performing on the stage of a military unit near Moscow, his heart stopped. The people's artist was buried at the Vagankovskoye cemetery.
