- rowing,
- judo,
- rhythmic gymnastics.
Priorities changed when Sergei accidentally ended up in the theater studio of his native school. It happened in the 8th grade, and the young man literally caught fire on the stage. His father Meilech Wexler did not approve of his son's hobby, insisted on continuing his sports career. Sergey heeded his father's requests, received the title of candidate for master of sports in one of the areas, but art prevailed and he began to make attempts to enter theatrical universities.

The first attempt to enter a theater university failed, and Sergei had to go to military service. At the end of it, he again tried his hand, and this time it was successful. In 1982, Sergei Veksler became a student at the Moscow Art Theater School, where he began teaching acting at once with two masters - Andrey Myagkov and Oleg Efremov.
After graduation, Sergei joined the Chekhov troupe of the Moscow Art Theater. Just 4 years later, he took part in productions of several theaters, and in 1996 he tried his hand at directing, and again successfully. Sergey Meilekhovich Veksler is also successful in cinema. His filmography includes over 70 significant roles. To a wide circle of viewers, he is known as a GRU colonel from the TV series "Flint", an investigator of the Cheka from "Yesenin" and in many other roles.

Sergei is an exemplary family man and father. In 1994, the ballerina Yulia Sadovskaya became his wife, whom he took away from her husband. The "siege" of the beauty lasted almost 4 years, ended with a victory and a trip to the registry office. The couple has a son, Ilya. Sergey takes an active part in the upbringing and development of the child, despite his busyness, he finds time for joint sports, night fishing, and many other entertainments.
The only marriage of Sergei Veksler turned out to be happy. His wife fully shares his desire for health, passion for sports and acting. The head of the family himself more than once in his interviews expressed deep gratitude to his wife for the understanding, patience, comfort and warmth that he and his son give him every day.
