The whole life of Eduard Alexandrovich Basurin is inextricably linked with Donetsk. In Donbass, he grew up and lived while this mining region was prosperous and happy. And when shooting began in southeastern Ukraine, he defended his homeland alongside thousands of compatriots.
Childhood and youth
Edward was born in 1966 in Donetsk. He looked like many boys of the Soviet period: he went to school and was fond of sports. By the eighth grade, the boy firmly decided to devote himself to a military career. An example of an older brother - a cadet was educated at the capital's Suvorov School, played a decisive role for the young man in choosing a further path. In 1987, Basurin Jr. graduated from the Donetsk Higher Military-Political School.
Service and work
Edward devoted the next ten years to the army. It took place in the Ural city of Kungur in the air defense forces.
In 1997, Basurin retired and returned home. The next stage of his biography was not easy. Edward had to change several activities to support his family. He worked in the pedagogical field, taught history, geography, physical education at school. Then the reserve officer went to work at the mine and after five years he headed the brigade. The next place of work was a gas station, and after that Basurin decided to open his own business. He headed a plastic film firm. The enterprise found its place in the product market and existed for more than five years. A new step in business was the creation of an enterprise for the production of PVC products.
Military conflict in Donbass
From the first days of the self-proclaimed Donetsk Republic, Basurin was at the very center of events. He came to the central square of Donetsk, talked with the townspeople, analyzed what was happening. He felt his involvement in what was happening, so he was actively involved in the events.
After the Crimean spring, many of the Donetsk people believed that their region would soon become part of Russia. Eduard Aleksandrovich was directly involved in the preparation and conduct of the corresponding referendum, in which the majority of the region's residents voted for this option.
In 2014, Basurin again had to put on a military uniform. In the army unit "Kalmius" he became deputy commander. The soldiers of "Kalmius" swore allegiance to the Donetsk land, with weapons in their hands they had to prove their love for their native land. In the same year, Basurin took part in military operations, his professional skills and command of the terrain played a great role. The officer competently used his experience as a political worker and soon he was appointed deputy corps commander of the DPR Ministry of Defense for work with personnel.
How he lives now
Eduard Basurin's family appeared during the period of service, the couple had two children. To date, the daughter and son have already celebrated their adulthood. The head of the family considers fishing to be his favorite pastime for rest, but there is almost no time left for it in recent years.
In January 2015, Eduard Aleksandrovich was appointed press secretary of the DPR Defense Ministry. Colonel Basurin broadcasts daily combat reports on the shelling of the territory of the republic. He continues to fight on the information front.
