Cinematography and literature were initially inextricably linked. A quality script provides half of the future success. Or failure. Eduard Volodarsky did not write failed scripts.
Starting conditions
The life path of each person develops according to an individual scenario. In some situations, the trajectory can be changed or corrected. Sometimes on the way there are circumstances of force majeure, when it is best to hide and wait out the bad weather. The biography of Eduard Yakovlevich Volodarsky, without the slightest exaggeration, resembles an action-packed adventure novel. The future writer and screenwriter used plots from real life in his work. At the same time, he remained a modest and unassuming person in everyday life.
Honored Artist of the RSFSR was born on February 3, 1941 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents lived at that time in the city of Kharkov. My father studied at a construction college. Mother worked as an operative in the district office of the NKVD. When the Great Patriotic War began, the head of the family went to the front. Mother and child were evacuated to the harsh city of Aktyubinsk. A few months later, they received a notification that their father had died a heroic death in battles with the Nazis. After the Victory, the mother married a fellow colonel.
On the literary path
When the stepfather was transferred to Moscow, the family was allocated a living space in Zamoskvorechye. From the communal apartment Eduard went to school. The boy studied well, but he did not have enough stars from the sky. Most often he spent his free time on the street. He was not considered a notorious bully, but he always supported his guys in a fight. And he even spent several days in a preliminary detention cell for participating in a bloody brawl. After school, Volodarsky wanted to get an education at the geological faculty of Moscow State University, but did not pass the entrance exams. I got angry and went to work in the geological party in the North.
Since his school years, Volodarsky was engaged in literary creation. He wrote short stories, essays and poems. Working in the regions of the Far North, Edward did not abandon his creativity. He wrote and sent his works to the editorial offices of newspapers and magazines. In 1962, the young author's script was approved by the admissions committee of VGIK and Volodarsky was enrolled in the scriptwriting department. After a while, films based on the works of Volodarsky began to appear on the screens. Among the most famous are: "White Explosion", "The Way Home", "At home among strangers, a stranger among our own."
Recognition and privacy
Edward Volodarsky's writing career was uneven. It happened that films based on his scripts were banned from showing. The famous playwright had to earn money as a loader. And only in the second half of his life did he receive the awards due. The writer's closet kept the Order of Honor and Order of Merit for the Fatherland.
The writer's personal life can be told in a nutshell. Eduard Yakovlevich was married to Farida Abdurakhmanovna Tagirova. For forty years husband and wife lived under the same roof. They had no children. Volodarsky died in October 2012.
