A rubber boat may crack during storage or be punctured in the water. In order to seal the hole in field conditions, you must have a supply of patches and special rubber glue with you.

Instructions

Step 1

Mark the places on the boat that need to be repaired. To do this, inflate the boat and place it in the water, you will see where it is poisoning, along the threads of bubbles. Mark these areas with a marker or duct tape.

Step 2

Craft patches. To do this, use ready-made kits sold in stores. If such a repair kit is not available, you can use it to patch the tops of children's rubber boots. The main thing is that the thickness of the patch matches the material from which the boat is made. Cut the patches so that they cover the hole by at least 3 centimeters on each side. Round off the flap to keep the edges from lagging behind the boat.

Step 3

Sand the patch on the boat with fine sandpaper. Sand the inner side of the patch thoroughly, this will increase the level of adhesion of the surface to the glue. Apply patches to the surface of the boat, circle it. Make sure that the hole is exactly in the center of the drawn outline. This will allow the patch to be correctly positioned when gluing.

Step 4

Degrease the surface of the hole or crack with acetone or gasoline. Apply glue to the surface of the boat in the bonding area. Use a special glue for rubber products such as 88HT. Leave for 20 minutes, repeat the operation. Do not smear the surface of the patches. Apply the patch to the damaged area until the second layer of glue has time to dry, press down thoroughly. Move the rubber flap so that air bubbles come out from under it. Place cloth or cardboard on the patch, press down with a press. Follow the instructions for the adhesive regarding the drying time.

Step 5

Use nylon thread to pre-mend large cracks and holes. Place the damaged part of the boat on a flat surface, carefully place the seams, catching the edges of the gap. Do not overtighten the thread or overlap. Degrease the surface and apply the patch.
