Each state decides in its own way the issue of citizens' possession of personal weapons. In some countries, individuals are prohibited from having it. In others, the right to wear and keep is protected by the constitution or other legislative acts. These countries include the United States, Mexico and some others where people are allowed to carry weapons, both for self-defense and to participate in the militia.

Step 1

The right to keep and bear arms is enshrined in the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. This amendment reads: "Since a well-organized militia is necessary for the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms must not be violated." Possession of firearms and ammunition is prohibited only for convicted criminals, persons on whom a relevant court decision has been issued, and mentally disabled people. In most states, it is possible to carry weapons in a hidden or open form.

Step 2

According to the tenth article of the Mexican constitution of 1917, the citizens of the country had the right to own firearms, except for those cases that are expressly prohibited by law. But after rebels looted an arms store in Mexico City in 1960, the Mexican government began to take restrictive measures. In 1995, the government closed the last private gun shops. The military received the monopoly right to sell weapons. There is currently only one official gun store in the country. It is located near the main headquarters of the army. The store building is heavily guarded. All Mexicans wishing to legally own a gun must abide by strict rules and regulations.

Step 3

Switzerland does not have a constitutional right to bear arms. This country practices universal military service. Every man between the ages of 20 and 34 is subject to conscription. After a short period of active service, they are enlisted in the people's militia. Until December 2009, militias were required to keep machine guns, combat rifles and semi-automatic pistols at home. In January 2010, it became possible to donate weapons to government arsenals.

Step 4

In the Czech Republic, there is also no constitutional right to possess firearms. According to the decision of the Czech Constitutional Court, the right to own a firearm is not a fundamental human right and cannot derive from the right to own property. But under the 2002 Firearms and Ammunition Act, everyone has the right to obtain a weapon license. And under a license to acquire the weapon itself. Holders of “professional activities” and “self-defense” licenses may carry weapons in disguise.

Step 5

According to Sharia law, there is an inner freedom to possess or not to possess weapons. In times of civil war and unrest, gun ownership can be suspended to prevent disaster and keep the peace. In Pakistan, for example, only non-Muslim citizens are prohibited from carrying weapons. They must be protected by the system of the Islamic state. For this they pay a special tax - jizya. In Yemen, weapons are legal and available to everyone.
