Step 1
You can complain about a police officer to his immediate supervisor. Find out the last name and first name of the policeman, as well as the department in which he works. Find the address and telephone number of this department in the directory. Call and find out the date and time of your personal appointment. If you live in a metropolis, you will most likely need to make an appointment first. In a village or a small town, sometimes this formality is dispensed with, the reception is carried out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Prepare a statement. It is written in free form, but in any case, in the upper right corner you need to indicate to whom the complaint is addressed, from whom it is and your contact information. In the main text, describe what exactly happened. Indicate the details of the police officer who treated you incorrectly, place and date. It may also happen that the policeman refuses to provide his data. Then just indicate the essence of the incident, when and where it happened, ask to sort it out.

You can also complain about the work of the police on the annual report to the residents. According to the current Russian legislation, heads of departments are obliged to hold such meetings where all residents can come with their questions and complaints. You can find out about the time of the report from the local media. In some cities, the local administration notifies residents about such events both through management companies that post announcements at the entrances, and through official city sites.

Police chiefs are not always attentive to citizens' complaints about their department, so don't be surprised if you get a cold welcome. The next place you should go is the prosecutor's office. It is she who is obliged to ensure that the rights of citizens are respected in full. It is better to contact the prosecutor's office personally, and the application can be written right on the spot. The sample should be either on the information stand or at the secretary.

You can also go to court with a complaint against a police officer. Before that, it is better to consult a lawyer, since the judicial authorities are not required to provide citizens with either sample documents or lists of what needs to be provided. On the contrary, during the trial, the judge assesses which of the parties provided more convincing evidence. Therefore, you will have to draw up a claim yourself. In your statement of claim, state what happened, when, where, and with whom. Write what legal acts the police officer violated, as well as what compensation you would like to receive.
