To own a firearm, desire alone is not enough. Of course, you can't just pick up and buy a pistol in a specialty store. In order for everything to be in accordance with the law, you must obtain an appropriate license.
A firearm or a traumatic pistol may be needed by many people in our country. Some acquire weapons in order to go hunting hour after hour, others buy in order to ensure the safety of themselves and their loved ones. But both of them, before using a weapon for their own purposes, must have a permit to store and carry it.
What firearms is it possible to obtain a license for?
Obtaining an appropriate license is formulated in the Law of the Russian Federation "On Weapons" (Article 3). In accordance with this law, a civilian can issue a permit for the following types of firearms:
- hunting firearms with a special rifled barrel;
- smooth-bore hunting firearms;
- barrelless firearms;
- long-barreled firearms.
Who can be granted a firearm permit?
A number of specific requirements are put forward for a person who wishes to issue a license for a weapon. The main thing is that there should be absolutely no mental illness, including protracted and chronic ones. In addition, a person should not have any, even administrative violations throughout the year.
Without fail, a person who wants to become the owner of a firearm must not have been previously convicted of intentional crimes. A person will not be issued a document certifying the right to possess a firearm if he is on a narcological or neuropsychiatric account. The future owner of the weapon must have permanent residence, as well as be of legal age (18 years old).
Where and how to get the required license?
If you do not have any "contraindications" to the storage of firearms, you must go to the Department of Licensing and Permitting Work at the place of your permanent registration. You must take with you a special application for the issuance of the required license, a passport, a photocopy of a document, a medical certificate of a special form 046-1, 2 photos 3x4, a receipt that you have made the required payment, as well as a letter from the district police officer, where it is written that you purchased locker for storing weapons. After the paperwork is completed, you will need to pass a kind of exam (for full knowledge of the rules for handling firearms).
One month after your visit to FRRD, you will be issued the required license.
