Instructions

Step 1

Pay attention to the size of the banknote. Of course, experienced scammers are unlikely to be mistaken with measurements, but beginners are quite possible. Keep in mind that bills with a face value of up to 1000 rubles. - 150 mm long and 65 mm high. Large bills of 1000 and 5000 rubles. have parameters: 157 mm by 69 mm. Of course, this does not mean that you should always carry a ruler with you, but you can compare the suspicious banknote with those that are already in your wallet.

Step 2

Swipe the bill with your hand. Genuine banknotes have a rough surface. Pay special attention to the area where the inscription "Ticket of the Bank of Russia" is located. It should be slightly convex and stand out from the general background.

Step 3

Look at the bill by holding it up towards the light. If the banknote is real, you will notice watermarks on it. Turn the bill with the side to you, which has its number written on it. So, on the left side, its denomination should be visible, and on the right - a fragment of the picture.

Step 4

Pay attention to the signs for the visually impaired, located in the lower left corner of the front side of the bill. They must be present on any denomination banknote. If they are not there, we can conclude that there is a fake in front of you.

Step 5

Take a closer look at another hallmark of genuine banknotes - a diving metallized thread. When viewed close, it is a dotted line consisting of shiny rectangles, but if you take it 30-40 cm away from the eyes against the light, then the line will become integral and clear.

Step 6

Check the bill for color-shifting ink. This recommendation is valid for banknotes with a denomination of 500 rubles. and higher. The color of an element of the picture (the emblem of the Bank of Russia, the coat of arms of the city, etc.) should change depending on the angle at which your gaze falls on it.

Step 7

Use an ultraviolet lamp. A genuine bill should not glow blue like regular office paper, for example. All signs must comply with the regulations. If, after verification, suspicions remain, contact the bank with a request to check the bill for authenticity.
