The procedure for conscription of citizens for military service in the Russian Federation is regulated by a special normative legal act - Federal Law No. 53-FZ of March 28, 1998 "On conscription and military service." So, article 5.1 of this law, which determines the procedure for passing a medical examination in the process of being sent to military service, establishes that the result of passing this procedure should be the assignment of a certain category of fitness to a citizen.

The suitability category is a parameter that determines whether a particular citizen has certain restrictions in the process of military service. In total, the law identifies five main categories of suitability, for which the first five letters of the Russian alphabet are used - A, B, C, D and D. At the same time, categories C, D and E represent situations when a young person is constantly or temporarily cannot be called up for military service in peacetime. Thus, only owners of categories A and B are subject to conscription.

Category B3

Categories A and B, subject to conscription, are, in turn, subdivided into several subcategories, each of which more accurately reflects the state of health of a young person and the degree of his suitability for military service. So, the most "universal" is category A, including its subcategories A1 and A2, whose representatives can participate in all military activities with virtually no restrictions.

The official formulation of the conscript's health status, corresponding to category B, which is contained in the law, states that a young person belonging to this category is "fit for military service with minor restrictions." At the same time, four subcategories are distinguished within category B, the belonging to each of which determines the list of types of troops to which a conscript can be sent.

So, category B3 implies that such a conscript can be sent to serve in guard units, anti-aircraft missile units or other units of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. In addition, a young man can be sent to serve in the missile forces, however, certain restrictions are imposed on the functions that he can perform: he can serve there as a driver or crew member of an infantry fighting vehicle (BMP), launcher or armored personnel carrier. Finally, another option for such a conscript is chemical units, where he can serve as a specialist. responsible for refueling and storage of fuel.
