Sergey Semyonovich Chirkov was born on December 2, 1983 in the small town of Novokuibyshevsk, near Samara. His mother was a trade worker, his father was a machine tool adjuster. Soon after the birth of the child, the family moved to the small town of Desnogorsk, Smolensk region.
Chirkov himself believes that his future profession was determined by the head teacher of the school.
