The Muz-TV Prize is an annual event dedicated to summing up the results of the outgoing year in the field of the music industry. It is a concert during which show business stars present awards to some performers from the TV channel of the same name.
The Muz-TV award is one of the most influential awards in Russian show business. Receiving it automatically puts the performer on a new, higher level. The awards ceremony is held annually in early June on the territory of the Moscow Olympic sports complex.
Despite the fact that many performers would like to have this award, it is rather difficult to be nominated for the Muz-TV award. A few months before the awards ceremony, the TV channel gathers a competent jury consisting of music industry figures (producers, music critics, journalists, etc.). This small group considers the awards offered by the channel ("Singer of the Year", "Best Album", etc.), and thinks about who could deservedly receive the award. As a result, the jury chooses up to 5 nominees for a particular title and informs the TV channel.
Then comes the next stage of determining the winners of the award. The Muz-TV channel is holding a special press conference, at which it announces the list of awards and nominees approved this year. A few days later, the channel's website opens up the opportunity to vote for viewers, who are instructed to choose a worthy representative of music in a particular area themselves.
After the completion of the voting, the staff of the TV channel calculate the results, and based on them, form the scenario of the award ceremony. As a rule, there are no disagreements with the results of the jury's decision and voting, but if this happens, the TV channel has the right not to revise the final verdict of the public and leave the situation as it is. After the Muz-TV 2012 award ceremony, the management of the TV channel announced the decision to close the award after ten years of its existence.
