Fraudsters are cunning, resourceful and far from simple people. How to protect yourself from fraud, scam and dishonesty is still an open question. But even more interesting, few people wonder what to do after the fraud has already been committed and you are left without money or your property? In other words, how to find the culprit of your loss - the fraudster himself and make him return what does not belong to him?
Instructions
Step 1
Contact law enforcement. This is the first thing that comes to mind of any person brought up in a civilized society. Therefore, do not neglect the advice that we remember from parents and school teachers - if something bad happens, contact the police. This will ensure your safety, and if the case goes to court, you will be able to prove the more, the sooner you go to the police and write a statement.
Step 2
Find witnesses to the fraud. It doesn't matter where you were deceived - on the street, in a store, anywhere else. In most cases, there are at least a few people who witnessed what was happening. Be sure to ask them to tell about what they saw in the police, and it is better if they become witnesses in this case.
Step 3
Collect all the necessary documents to prove the fact of fraud. The presence of documents is an irrefutable proof of your innocence and a guarantee that you can prove it. Be sure to find all the papers that took place in the commission of the fact of fraud - each of them has a meaning and weight in court.
Step 4
Remember and tell the police everything you know about the scammer you are looking for. It may well be that you do not have too much information, but in such cases every little thing is important - that is why it must be remembered and reported to the police. This will create additional conditions for the fraudster to be caught as soon as possible.
Step 5
Find other people who have been affected by the same person or group of people. Very often fraudsters deceive not only one person - they are whole series of committed crimes and dozens of deceived people. Therefore, if you were deceived, then there is a high probability that someone else was deceived in the same way. If your case is not an isolated one, then the public will be concerned about catching a fraudster who poses a serious threat to many citizens.
