The true reasons leading to the outbreak of merciless wars in different parts of our vast planet are very diverse and, as a rule, are carefully hidden from ordinary people. But the consequences of merciless battles are always equally deplorable and destructive.

Why wars arise
Why wars arise

There has not yet been a war that would have passed without human losses and sorrow. Everyone knows that brutal military actions always bring irreparable losses to any state and its people, regardless of whether it is the attacker or the defender. But are there any weighty reasons worth all the sacrifices made by military leaders and rulers of states in pursuit of illusory goals? Turning to the sad pages of history, let's try to highlight the main motives of the warring parties to start bloodshed. More than four centuries ago, civil wars broke out in France one after another. Fierce battles were fought between French Catholics, who at that time made up the majority of the country's population, and Protestants, who were in the minority. Religion became the bone of contention in those battles. Different views on religion and in our days remain a relevant reason for the dispute between the followers of different religions. And in previous centuries, when the church had practically unlimited power, this motive was one of the fundamental factors of the war. The reasons and grounds for the Trojan War are still contradictory. According to one version, the battle was provoked by the Trojan Paris. According to numerous myths and legends, he kidnapped the wife of the Greek king Menelaus. For this, the Greeks decided to take revenge on the Trojans. Collecting a great army, they sailed to Troy to set foot on the warpath. Many military battles were initiated by territorial divisions. Organized armed violence was started many times by sovereign rulers who wanted to expand the expanses of the state and replenish its treasury. The Livonian War, which broke out in 1558 and lasted for 25 years, is an excellent example of battles for territory. The battle was fought for the territories of the Baltic states, which at that time belonged to the Livonian Order. The reasons for the emergence of wars in our time are, most often, geopolitical in nature. The developed powers, under the guise of observing the norms of world law, are expanding their spheres of influence by force. Also, the basis for waging modern local wars is the desire to control the extraction of strategic natural resources such as oil, gas, rare metals.
