Whitey Bulger was a notorious criminal during his lifetime, whose search continued for more than one year. As a master of his craft, he led a criminal group that terrorized a small area in the United States for a long time.
Biography
The serial killer was born in Massachusetts, USA. Whitey's birthday fell on September 3, 1929. The head of the boy's family was disabled, he lacked one hand. Due to such circumstances, young Bulger was forced to earn a living on his own, but he did not always succeed in doing it legally. The young man more than once got into the police station, already at the age of 14 he was first taken by the police for theft and robbery.
Until the age of majority, Whitey led an obscene lifestyle, preferred not to attend school. His hobby was to commit hooliganism with the newly formed street gang. When he became an adult, he was forced to serve compulsory military service in the United States Army. Later, he received prison sentences several times and was actively involved in the development of his street gangster group.
The first serious crimes
Returning home from the army, Bulger, due to his upbringing, was unable to resist the temptation of criminal activity. Almost immediately he went to prison, he was sentenced to nine years in prison. The reason for this was the taking of hostages and another robbery.
Serving this term, Whitey was able to secure his release earlier than expected. The fact is that law enforcement officers offered him a deal: Bulger became the object of research on psychotropic drugs, for which he received a reduction in the time of serving his sentence. When the man was released, for some time he tried not to get involved in his previous affairs, he found a job.
Street gang
In the 70s of the last century, the famous criminal decided to fully return to criminal activity: he led one of the most influential and cruel gangs of that time. Winter Hill Gang was famous for its ruthlessness and elusiveness.
Over the long 10 years of his career in the gang, Whitey has committed countless crimes. He remained at large only thanks to his ingenuity and ability to find a common language with different people: the US intelligence services for some time supported the activities of Bulger's gang because of the agreement between the parties.
But in the 90s, the man's atrocities were uncovered, the police brought the gang leader dozens of charges of crimes of varying severity. By some miracle, Whitey managed to escape, he remained at large until 2011. Bulger changed his name and surname, forged documents and spent a long 20 years in complete peace, law enforcement agencies were unable to catch this skillful criminal figure.
As a result, the criminal was caught, in 2013 he was sentenced to several life terms in prison. In 2018, Whitey was killed by unknown assailants in his cell.
